The wildlife action campaign attracts many agencies, units and people to participate.

Recently, the People's Committee of Hue City in collaboration with the Provincial Forest Protection Department, the Project Management Board for Technical Support on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation and the WWF-Vietnam Biodiversity Conservation Component Implementation Unit organized the launching ceremony of the Action Campaign for Wildlife. The above activity attracted hundreds of people to participate in order to continue to implement the goal of increasing the participation and support of local authorities, functional units and the community in wildlife and biodiversity conservation activities, thereby reducing and ending the consumption of wild animal meat and products from wildlife in nature.

According to the leader of Hue City People's Committee, wildlife is an indispensable part of the biosphere where humans live, a valuable resource that promotes the comprehensive development of society, and an important link in the ongoing biological transformation chain. The existence of the animal world has a significant impact on the balance of the ecosystem, maintaining a healthy living environment for humans.

According to a survey, Vietnam is one of the 12 biodiversity centers, one of the 16 countries with the highest biodiversity in the world with valuable and rare genetic resources. However, Vietnam is facing biodiversity degradation along with other challenges such as environmental pollution, water resources, land, plastic waste and the extreme effects of climate change. Accordingly, many precious and rare animal species have become extinct in the wild or are at risk of extinction. And wildlife species are facing many threats such as climate change, environmental pollution, disease, hunting and overexploitation.

According to Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Tran Song, one of the reasons leading to the above degradation is due to the limited awareness of people in implementing the ban on hunting, capturing, buying, selling, transporting, slaughtering, consuming, storing, advertising, and harming endangered and rare wildlife. Therefore, in the coming time, the city will step up propaganda work among cadres, party members and people of all walks of life about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on protecting, developing, and conserving nature and biodiversity.

In particular, it requires the people of the whole city, local authorities and departments to join hands to act for wildlife; officials and civil servants of agencies/units under the city and agencies/units located in the city to strengthen their responsibility to set an example through practical and specific actions, committing not to consume wild animal meat and products from illegal wildlife. In addition, restaurants and food service establishments in the city commit not to trade wild animal meat and products from illegal wildlife, and all people do not participate in illegal hunting, capturing, captivity, trading, transporting, advertising and consuming of wildlife.
