4-day car journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to celebrate Tet

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động26/01/2025

(NLDO) – A family in Ho Chi Minh City spent nearly 4 days driving to Hanoi to celebrate Lunar New Year.

On January 26 (the 27th day of the Lunar New Year), people from Ho Chi Minh City continued to flock to the Northern and Central provinces to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 with their families and relatives. Not only was Tan Son Nhat Airport crowded with passengers, but the national highways from Ho Chi Minh City to the Central and Northern provinces also experienced local congestion as people's travel needs increased.

According to a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the demand for driving personal cars to go home for Tet has increased in recent years, especially when expressways were put into operation. Many families, instead of taking planes, trains or buses, have chosen to drive cars to go home when traveling on the road is more convenient and open thanks to expressways.

Mr. Thanh (residing in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) said that his family had just driven more than 1,700 km from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to celebrate Tet in nearly 4 days. This was the 3rd consecutive year the whole family drove back to their hometown, but this was the first time they experienced the longest journey.

The distance from Mr. Trong's house from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi is about 1,700km.

The 4-day itinerary started at noon on January 22 from Ho Chi Minh City with stops in Phu Yen, Da Nang , Ha Tinh, and Hanoi. Along the way, his family visited new destinations, saw the sights along the way, and enjoyed the atmosphere of the days before Tet. His family took the opportunity to visit destinations in Hoi An (Quang Nam), Nghinh Phong Tower (Phu Yen), checked in at Phong Nha - Ke Bang, or immersed themselves in the spring atmosphere on the road in Hanoi...

Families do not have to worry about high airfares, crowded queues at the airport or keeping track of train and bus tickets. On the contrary, instead of flying for a few hours to go home or taking a train or bus for about 1.5 days, driving a long distance home requires good health, preparation of schedules, stops along the way and precautions to ensure absolute safety.

"Compared to other means of transport such as airplanes, trains, and buses, driving a car home has the advantage of allowing the family to take control of their time, and the stops can vary from year to year. My family only drives during the day, and in the evenings we choose a destination on the journey to rest and take advantage of the trip . In return, this journey requires a lot of time on the road and requires the health of the whole family," said Mr. Thanh.

The "specialty" on the journey home from the South to the North is the highways, which are connected by road tunnels. In the photo is the Cu Mong Pass tunnel on National Highway 1 and the North-South highway through the Cu Mong mountain range, connecting the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen. At the same time, the Deo Ca tunnel is the second largest road tunnel on the North-South highway in our country, after the Hai Van tunnel.

National Highway 1 through Binh Dinh province, because the highway connecting Phu Yen, Binh Dinh to Quang Ngai does not have a highway, people driving home will have to go through National Highway 1. On this route, people and tourists can see "Tet apricot blossom roads" sold on both sides of the road near Tet.
