On June 5, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held a press conference to inform about the 30th anniversary of summer volunteer programs and campaigns of Ho Chi Minh City youth (1994 - 2023) and summer volunteer programs and campaigns in 2023.
According to Mr. Ngo Minh Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, this year, the summer volunteer programs and campaigns are organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union, and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association. Accordingly, the 2023 summer volunteer programs and campaigns will be implemented from June 11 to August 6.
Mr. Ngo Minh Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, provided information.
According to Mr. Hai, the 6 programs and campaigns implemented this summer are: “Green Summer” volunteer campaign, “Exam Support” program, “Red Flamboyant” volunteer campaign, “Pink Vacation” volunteer campaign, “Green March” volunteer campaign and “Green Shirt Tutor” program. In addition, there are also international volunteer activities, volunteering on islands and in cyberspace.
Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union will also carry out many key projects. Accordingly, it will carry out phase 2 of the work of digitizing martyrs' tombstones at the Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs' Cemetery, digitizing red addresses, information about Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, movement parents, and information about martyrs' graves.
Other projects include organizing volunteer activities in Thanh An island commune (Can Gio district) and constructing a volleyball court, entertainment and sports area for people on Thanh An island; digitizing data on volunteer teams and locations participating in summer volunteer programs and campaigns.
Volunteers clean up canals and ditches
Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union also set many important targets in this program and campaign. These include training to improve digital capacity for 90,000 people; supporting at least 80,000 people and young people to access and use online public services; providing health examinations, consultations, and free medicine to 32,000 people and young people in difficult circumstances.
Throughout Ho Chi Minh City, the city's youth set a goal of upgrading and concreting at least 80 km of roads and alleys; building 10 new friendship houses, charity houses, and gratitude houses; and repairing 20 friendship houses, charity houses, and gratitude houses.
In addition, 70,000 new trees were planted; 45 walls were painted and decorated; 45 new children's playgrounds were upgraded and built.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai said that at least 125,000 soldiers will be mobilized to participate in the campaign. In addition, at least 700,000 soldiers will be mobilized to participate in volunteer activities during the campaign.
During the summer volunteer programs and campaigns, we will strive to recruit 3,700 new members; recruit 5,000 new members of the Vietnam Youth Union and have at least 500 outstanding members admitted to the Party.
