Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7 this summer. Recently, leaked information revealed that the Z Fold7 will be a comprehensive upgrade compared to its predecessor. However, the battery and charging technology will remain the same.
Galaxy Z Fold7 battery capacity revealed.
Setsuna Digital revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will feature upgrades to its screen, hinge, internal structure, main camera, under-display camera, and overall durability. The source also confirmed that the battery size and charging speed may be similar to the Z Fold6 (4,400 mAh battery and 25W fast charging support).
Another source claims the Galaxy Z Fold7 will have an 8-inch inner folding screen and a 6.5-inch outer screen. This means the phone will be slightly larger than the Z Fold6.
Additionally, sources reveal that Samsung is trying to make its next foldable product, the Z Fold7, have a thinner body.
Samsung is reportedly aiming for a thinner Galaxy Z Fold7 while still supporting the S Pen, similar to the recently launched Z Fold Special Edition. Accordingly, the company will remove the traditional digitizer – the main component responsible for stylus input.
The digitizer is used to enable electromagnetic resonance (EMR) technology, which has been part of the Galaxy Z Fold line since the Galaxy Z Fold3. It creates an electric field on the screen, allowing for precise stylus input without the need for batteries. However, this technology contributes to the device's thickness, thus forcing a trade-off between stylus input capabilities and slimness.
Industry sources reveal that Samsung Electronics is actively considering implementing digital-free stylus input technology for the Z Fold7. This would be a strategy aimed at making the foldable phone thinner – a priority in the competitive market for this product.
