"Flying Bubbles" is a collection of 60 essays, revolving around themes such as: family memories, motherhood, journeys, nostalgia, growing up, loss, and rebirth…
The stories written by Hien Thuc over more than 10 years of her life, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to music and life, are not simply records of moments in her life, but also a journey preserving the emotions, memories, and thoughts of the female singer as she went through the ups and downs, joys and sorrows of life's journey.
For over 10 years, Hien Thuc wrote everywhere: backstage, on tour, in her small room, during sleepless nights missing her mother, missing her children, or simply feeling empty inside.
She recorded and compiled all of it into a collection of essays dedicated to those who love the singer. "Balloons, Fly Up" is considered by Hien Thuc as an "open diary" – where the artist reveals a part of her inner world – full of tenderness, sincerity, and femininity, to those who love her.
Hien Thuc shared: "I never intended to become a writer. I only write because, for me, those emotions sometimes cannot be expressed through singing. At those times, I turn to words as a quiet refuge. I write for myself, for my daughter, for the things I have experienced and cannot yet name."
The book's title, "Fly Up, Bubbles," comes from an article about childhood memories – where the image of bubbles floating away represents not only innocence but also a gentle yearning to let go, to fly away from the sometimes heavy reality.
"The bubbles are a metaphor representing Hien Thuc's quiet writing journey over the past 10 years, without the ambition for fame, but simply letting her accumulated emotions flow and gently recounting them to her loved ones," the singer further shared about the book's title.
Not a professional author, Hien Thuc chooses to write with pure sincerity. This makes the writing style in her book intimate, gentle, and somewhat rustic, yet easily touches the emotions of the reader.
These passages are not long or flowery, but they are imbued with love – written by a woman with life experience and an artist sensitive to life and people.
"Someone who isn't good at expressing their feelings will find ways to convey their thoughts. I'm not a very articulate person when it comes to expressing my emotions, so I often write them down to share with those around me."
"I think everyone has their own depth, and it's not necessarily true that only talented writers possess depth. Furthermore, this is the essay genre, following the most genuine emotions. When nostalgia, love, or sometimes facing the most painful things well up, sitting down and writing them down with beautiful, profound words is the best way for me to express those feelings," shared Hien Thuc.
With the introduction of this book, Hien Thuc remains unchanged as a writer – she is still a singer, an artist who creates art through emotion. Writing, for her, is not a new job but another way to continue that journey. After all, music and literature are both forms of preserving emotions – differing only in the means of expression.
