Thảo My confided: "I learned about the Breast Cancer Network Vietnam (BCNV) hair donation project for cancer patients through social media. Furthermore, my parents often told me about their friends' children who had done this charitable act. From then on, I've been planning to donate my hair. This summer, I can donate my long hair; I've been growing it since first grade."

Thảo My didn't forget to take a picture with her long hair before getting it cut as a gift.
On the morning of June 13th, Thảo My was taken by her mother to a hair salon on Võ Văn Tần Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, to donate her hair. This is one of many hair salons affiliated with the BCNV network.
"I'm a little nervous and a bit sad about having to say goodbye to a part of my hair that I've become so attached to," Thảo My whispered as she sat down in the chair at the hair salon.
Having become accustomed to seeing young women donate their hair and understanding the feelings of teenage girls, the hair salon staff were very welcoming, caring, and guided Thảo My through the hair donation process in detail. This made the young girl feel more at ease.
After washing and drying her hair, the salon staff measured the length of hair needed for donation at 25 cm, tied it up, and proceeded to cut it. Before cutting, the salon staff didn't forget to encourage Thảo My once again with a warm smile...

Thảo My had her hair measured by a salon employee to determine the required hair length.
Holding a lock of her hair that had just been cut, Thảo My felt a pang of sadness: "I feel a little regretful right now, but when I think about how my hair will be made into new hairstyles for many women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, I forget that feeling of regret."
After more than an hour, Thao My, the girl with the charming long hair, has now become a little girl with... a ponytail. She looks both familiar and strange, but very adorable.
Upon returning home, the first thing Thảo My did was look in the mirror, admiring her new, unusual hairstyle over and over again, and smiling incessantly at her reflection.

"I'm happy that I've completed my plan, contributing a little something to alleviate the suffering of the women who have to endure the pain of cancer. I promise myself that I will continue to grow my hair and will continue to donate hair when it reaches a sufficient length. Moreover, I will put money into my piggy bank; besides donating hair, I hope to contribute my savings to BCNV to fund the making of wigs. I will also share this with my friends, hoping that many of them will respond and contribute according to their abilities to alleviate the suffering of cancer patients," Thảo My expressed.
