Misleading images of Saudi Arabia in recent days. |
Last week, social media was rocked by a video of the "Sky Stadium" - a stadium built on top of a skyscraper, said to be for the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Thousands of accounts shared the clip, attracting millions of views, leading many to believe that this was the official design from Riyadh.
However, a source close to the project confirmed to ESPN : "This design is completely fake and does not appear in any Saudi Arabian plans. There is no official source mentioning it."
In fact, Saudi Arabia has just announced plans to build a sports complex on part of The Line project – a super-modern city – but the model is nothing like the viral video.
In fact, the original video belongs to the Instagram account hyporaultraworks, famous for its series of AI videos simulating futuristic stadiums. The video is captioned "skyscraper stadium flying". The account owner confirms that he is the author: "What started as a simple AI idea, with over 50 million views, the Sky Stadium design has gone global and spiraled out of control."
"When I created the clip, I was completely unaware of any Saudi Arabian project. This is just an AI-generated idea, exploring the image of a vertical football field on a skyscraper," the person emphasized.
