On the afternoon of July 6, candidates taking the specialized subject exam for the 10th grade entrance exam finished their exam. Although this was the last exam subject, the exam site at Trung Vuong High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) was still very "hot", with parents lining up to pick up their children.
This exam site organizes exams in 3 specialized subjects: literature, math and history.
The first to leave the exam room, Ngo Kha Uyen, a student at Phan Van Tri Secondary School, said the history exam was not too difficult, similar to previous years' exams. "I guess I got 6-7 points, which is a pretty high score for me," Uyen said.
Candidates are happy because they have completed the exam well this time.
In literature, Luong Huy, a student at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, said that the test was quite difficult, but if he reviewed the lessons carefully, he could get 7 points or more.
With the mindset of taking the exam to test herself, Tu Linh, a student at Van Don Secondary School, said she was not too pressured about passing the entrance exam to a specialized school and Linh was quite satisfied with today's math test. "Although the test was only one page long, it required candidates to think a lot, especially the geometry part," Linh said.
Thuy An, a student at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, said she was able to do about 60% because the math questions were quite difficult and had a high ability to classify candidates.
Candidates chatted with each other after finishing the specialized exam.
Most candidates were satisfied with this year’s exam in three basic subjects: literature, math, and English. The specialized exam helps classify and select candidates with the ability to enter the city’s top schools.
Some parents said that their families do not put pressure on their children to take exams, especially in specialized subjects. "Seeing my child study day and night makes me feel sorry. My child wants to try to enter specialized schools, my parents can only support me from the rear" - Ms. Huynh Thu (Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) shared.
