The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the list of the national team to gather in March 2025 with 26 players. Most of the players called up by coach Kim Sang-sik are the squad that won the 2024 AFF Cup, adding some players who have been in good form recently.
Pham Ly Duc, Tran Bao Toan (HAGL), Vo Hoang Minh Khoa ( Binh Duong ), Nguyen Thai Son (Thanh Hoa) are new faces compared to the most recent tournament. Among them, Ly Duc and Minh Khoa were called up to the Vietnam national team for the first time.
Without Nguyen Xuan Son, Vietnam Golden Ball 2024 Nguyen Tien Linh is the main striker of the team.
The best player, the top scorer of the AFF Cup 2024, Nguyen Xuan Son, was not present due to injury. Coach Kim Sang-sik did not call up any new strikers in this training session to replace Xuan Son's position. Vi Hao, Tien Linh, Tuan Hai and Thanh Binh are all familiar faces attending the AFF Cup 2024. The player who has recently attracted attention at The Cong Viettel , Nham Manh Dung, was not called up.
The Vietnamese team will gather from March 11 in Binh Duong. In the first international matches of 2025, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have two matches, against Cambodia (friendly) on March 19 and Laos (2027 Asian Cup qualifiers) on March 25.
