A few days before U22 Vietnam went to Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games, coach Kim Sang Sik affirmed that his team was completely ready to conquer the men's football gold medal.
“ The players and I are having a very favorable training session in Ba Ria, both in terms of weather and physical condition. The whole team is healthy and has the best preparations for the SEA Games.
This is the first time I have led a team to participate in the SEA Games, so I am quite nervous, but also very excited. I have been in Vietnam for 1.5 years and have achieved some success with the U23 Vietnam team. So I also hope to have another good tournament with the players" - Coach Kim Sang Sik opened

Assessing the opponents, Mr. Kim Sang Sik said: “ Our first goal is to pass the group stage. Laos is a slightly weaker team. The first match is always difficult, but we will try to score many goals to create an advantage over Malaysia.
For Malaysia, U22 Vietnam must be more careful. We follow the match between Malaysia and Laos to come up with suitable tactics to complete the goal of defeating Malaysia.
The teams in the other groups are quite strong, so U22 Vietnam needs to prepare everything well, then aim for the next goal of winning each match one by one."
“ Tomorrow (November 29), the coaching staff will announce the shortlist of U22 Vietnam. As the head coach, this is really difficult. I have lost sleep thinking about how to find the strongest squad to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.

I wanted to bring all the players because they are training and living hard, but the regulations made it impossible. So I tried to be careful and find the best squad to announce" - Coach Kim Sang Sik said about the difficulty of having to choose 23 players to bring to Thailand.
The Korean captain expressed regret at the absence of captain Van Truong: " He has devoted himself throughout the past time and contributed greatly to the success of U23 Vietnam, so when Van Truong was injured, I was truly regretful and heartbroken.
After the internal practice match tomorrow, we will try to find a suitable and worthy replacement for Van Truong's position."
According to plan, coach Kim Sang Sik and U22 Vietnam will travel to Thailand on December 1 and have their opening match against U22 Laos 2 days later.
