'The Vietnamese team has overwhelming strength'

In the press conference before the match between Vietnam and Nepal, coach Ross shared: "Our goal is to get points, 3 points is great, but 1 point is also very happy. We were disappointed after losing to Laos in the previous match. We will try to perform better."

Nepal coach does not want to compare the two teams Vietnam - Malaysia, the goal is to get points at Go Dau stadium

In the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Nepal lost 0-2 to Malaysia in the first round. When asked to compare the strength of the Vietnamese and Malaysian teams, Mr. Ross replied: "I don't want to talk much about the Malaysian team at this time, especially after what happened between them and FIFA and AFC. The Vietnamese team has superior strength, speed, technique, and will definitely play offensively. Nepal will try to stand firm. The Vietnamese team has many young players of the U.23 age group, and these are also notable factors. With a desire to show off, they will bring new energy, so we need to pay attention. Nepal is the underdog so we need to try to defend. This is also our strength. Nepal will try to get 1 point."

Coach Ross brought to Vietnam a fairly young squad, with many players of the U.20 and U.23 age groups. He shared: "My young players will be trained under pressure when playing under the pressure of a large number of home fans. I have made it clear to the players that even if they only play for 5 or 10 minutes, they must try to perform. I will also try to create conditions for the players to play as much as possible. Playing in important matches like this is the foundation for their development. The players must also adapt quickly to everything."

Coach Ross's funny moment

In addition, Coach Ross also shared about the difficulties that the Nepal team had to face: "I tried to help the players understand my philosophy of defending well before attacking. But I also had difficulties because there were players who did not play for any club. A few played in the Bangladesh and Cambodia leagues. Team bonding was another challenge. In August and September, we did not have any real matches.

In October, we have to play against a strong team like the Vietnam team. The players have also spent many hours concentrating with the national team. The players need to perform well to have the opportunity to compete in some national championships such as V-League, Singapore or Cambodia. Mentally, we are very excited. We will try to do our job well."

After the confessions, Coach Ross also had an interesting share. He used to be an assistant of the Korean women's team. He humorously talked about that time: "I didn't know Coach Kim Sang-sik before. But in Korea, I learned a lot about the Korean fighting spirit and tactics. Therefore, I can imagine the tactics that Coach Kim will apply tomorrow. I hear a little Korean, hoping to overhear something when Coach Kim talks to his students."

The match between Vietnam and Nepal will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Go Dau Stadium.
