In the Southeast Asian women's football tournament, the Thai women's team did not perform well, finishing fourth overall. The team lost twice in a row to the Vietnamese women's team in the group stage and the third-place match.

However, coach Futoshi Ikeda was not too upset about this result. He said the reason why his team lost to the Vietnamese women's team was because they used many young players.
The Japanese coach stated: “If we only look at the results, finishing fourth is not something to be satisfied with. However, our biggest goal right now is to develop the players’ abilities, and I see that they have made significant progress.
As everyone knows, the AFF Women's Football Championship is not a tournament in the FIFA Days calendar, so we do not have the services of our best players, those who are playing abroad and members of BGC Bundit Asia Club because they are busy participating in the Asian Club Championship.
Thailand's squad for the tournament is mostly young players. We are trying to help the players gain a deeper understanding of tactics and apply the playing style they have learned throughout the 5 matches in the tournament.
I believe that the whole team has gained a lot of experience, especially when facing the host Vietnam in an atmosphere of enthusiastic spectators, or adapting tactics to each different opponent. Those are very valuable lessons."

Coach Ikeda also emphasized that the next three months will be a key period to prepare for the 2025 SEA Games. He said: "What I remind the players is to improve their individual skills as well as their physical strength. In the remaining time, we will have international friendly matches in the FIFA Days schedule to test and adjust in order to bring the team to the SEA Games with the highest level of readiness.
The Thai women's team is in the process of development. I hope the fans will continue to accompany and support us, and thank you all for your support over the past time."
According to the plan, the Thai women's team will have continuous training sessions during the upcoming FIFA Days, before competing at the 2025 SEA Games hosted by Thailand from December 7 to 19.
