Recently, the representative of coach Shin Tae Yong officially spoke out about the rumors of him coaching the Chinese national team.
"Contrary to reports in the Indonesian media, we have not received any offer or contract from the Chinese Football Association," said the representative of coach Shin Tae Yong.
The source also revealed that the South Korean coach is currently very busy with various jobs and projects: “Coach Shin is involved in many activities, including his role as vice president at the Korean Football Association and his position as director at Seongnam FC.”
However, coach Shin Tae Yong's side also left open the possibility of negotiations if they receive an official invitation from China.
"A proposal from China is necessary for discussions to take place, but so far there has been no move in that direction," the representative emphasized.

Previously, media outlets were abuzz with rumors that coach Shin Tae Yong was one of the leading candidates to replace Branko Ivankovic, who was recently sacked after China's failure in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Besides coach Shin, the list of candidates for the head coach position of the Chinese national team also includes other names such as Zheng Zhi and Gao Hongbo.
Zheng Zhi is currently the head coach of the Chinese U21 team and previously served as an assistant coach for the senior national team. Meanwhile, Gao Hongbo is also a former coach of the Chinese national team.
Coach Branko Ivankovic (70 years old) was appointed by the CFA in February 2024 to replace his predecessor Aleksandar Janković. His main task is to help the Chinese national team qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian region.
However, he disappointed by failing to help the Chinese national team achieve their World Cup dream. Simultaneously, finishing second to last in their group in the third qualifying round and playing with a lack of identity led to Ivankovic's dismissal.
Under Ivankovic, the Chinese national team only managed 4 wins, 2 draws, and 8 losses in 14 official matches. His win rate was just 28.57%.
