Speaking to Indonesia's Goalpost media channel recently, coach Shin Tae Yong said: "My heart is always with Indonesia. Even if there is an offer from another country, but if the Indonesian Football Federation makes a sincere offer, the Indonesian team is always my first choice."
“My principle is that if there is an offer that is attractive enough, I will consider and think about it. I am someone who is ready to face anything,” coach Shin Tae Yong added.

Mr. Shin Tae Yong was fired by PSSI on January 6, to make room for coach Patrick Kluivert (Netherlands). However, after only about 10 months in charge, on October 16, coach Patrick Kluivert was fired, because he failed to help the Indonesian team win a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
After PSSI fired coach Patrick Kluivert, the Indonesian football community once again called out coach Shin Tae Yong. CNN Indonesia wrote: “Mr. Shin Tae Yong is one of the coaches of the Indonesian national team who has made a good impression on Indonesian football fans.”
“During his time leading Garuda (the nickname of the Indonesian team), since 2019, coach Shin Tae Yong helped the team rise 48 places in the FIFA rankings, from 173rd to 125th. This is the ranking up to the time coach Shin Tae Yong was fired in January this year,” are still the lines written on the CNN Indonesia page.

As for coach Shin Tae Yong, although he has expressed his desire to return to the head coach position of the Indonesian team, the Korean coach frankly admitted that he has not received any official offer from PSSI.
“Up to now, there has been no offer for me from PSSI. There has been no call from them,” Mr. Shin Tae Yong shared.
The next notable point is that although the way coach Shin Tae Yong was fired by PSSI on January 6 was quite harsh (he was informed of his job loss in the morning, and by noon of the same day, PSSI announced a new coach), in return, PSSI compensated the Korean coach very generously.
Indonesian newspaper Jawapos once revealed that coach Shin Tae Yong was compensated up to 110 billion VND by PSSI, not long after he was fired.
