Indonesia 'competes' with China for coach

Sina (China) newspaper reported that the Chinese Football Association (CFA) is contacting coach Timur Kapadze (44 years old). At the same time, Indonesian media confirmed that PSSI (Indonesian Football Association) is also actively joining the race to win Mr. Kapadze's signature.

As for the Uzbek strategist, he also confirmed that he is interested in invitations from China, Indonesia and Türkiye. The Indonesian national team coach's position is vacant after PSSI parted ways with coach Patrick Kluivert.

Meanwhile, the Chinese team has appointed former player Shao Jiayi (born in 1980) as head coach. However, the CFA is said to be ready to change if it gets Mr. Kapadze's consent.

Mr. Kapadze is the person who helped Uzbekistan win a historic ticket to the 2026 World Cup. After Uzbekistan won a ticket to the World Cup, the country's Football Federation surprised everyone by appointing former midfielder Fabio Cannavaro as head coach and transferring Mr. Kapadze to an assistant position.

Therefore, coach Kapadze decided to resign and find a new destination. Mr. Kapadze's success with Uzbekistan football helped this 44-year-old coach attract the attention of many football teams.
