Thailand coach hopes not to lose more players before the final against Vietnam

Coach Masatada Ishii shared with the press about the strength of coach Kim Sang Sik and his team, before the Thai team came to Vietnam to prepare for the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final at Viet Tri Stadium on January 2.

“I heard that the Vietnam Football Federation has temporarily suspended the domestic tournament to have time to prepare for this tournament. They have tried their best and played very well in both attack and defense, in every aspect. Compared to other teams, Vietnam is a very strong team,” admitted coach Masatada Ishii.

Coach Masatada Ishii and Thai players have arrived in Vietnam.

The Japanese coach then shared his thoughts about striker Nguyen Xuan Son.

“About Nguyen Xuan Son, I think he is a dangerous player, scoring a lot of goals. We have analyzed the match every time we face our opponents, but sometimes when we step into reality, the situation is not as expected. So it all depends on how we play on the field to achieve the best results. The Thai team has come this far thanks to the cheers and support from the fans. Thank you very much.”

Coach Masatada Ishii shared about the situation of the Thai national team: “We have some injured players. The remaining players will depend on their physical condition. We will try to prepare as best as possible for the first leg of the final. Hopefully, no more players will have problems in the near future.

The whole team will try their best in the away match and aim for a victory. When we return home, I hope to see the Rajamangala Stadium packed with spectators like the match against the Philippines. I hope the fans will continue to accompany and cheer for the Thai team .”

The first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 2 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ). The second leg of the final will take place on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium.
