The afternoon practice session of the Vietnamese women's team on July 8 took place in cold and windy weather with some rain. However, this did not greatly affect the spirit and professional quality of the practice session.
According to plan, on the afternoon of July 9, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will have one more practice session before entering the friendly match against the New Zealand women's team at 5:30 p.m. on July 10 (local time) at McLean Park Stadium, Napier city.
After 2 days of training in Napier, the Vietnamese women's football team has met all the technical requirements set by the coaching staff. The only problem that the team has encountered is the weather, but day by day, the team is trying to gradually adapt to low temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees Celsius during the day and 3 to 5 degrees Celsius at night.
After a long time accompanying the Vietnamese women's football team through many training sessions and competitions, fitness coach Cedric Roger acknowledged the efforts of the whole team and assessed the players as very dynamic.
"The players have been very active in the past two days. I hope they will be ready for the upcoming matches. At this time, the coaching staff will focus on helping the players maintain their current fitness. Of course, those who often compete will need to practice more to improve their fitness to meet the requirements of the match. I hope that in terms of warming up, they will have more time to avoid injuries," said Mr. Roger.
Coach Roger commented: "The weather here is very different from Hanoi... Today, there is wind and rain, making it feel colder. However, if the warm-up process is good and the players can warm up, I think there will be no problem with their current physical condition."
Meanwhile, the opponent of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team in the friendly match on July 10th, after arriving in Napier city, immediately started training. In the training session on July 8th at Mclean Park, all 23 players participating in the 2023 World Cup of the New Zealand women's team were present.
"I know what it means to be here. It's our last game and it's great to have that bond," said New Zealand women's captain Ali Riley. "It feels like the Vietnam game is the real start to our World Cup journey. And if we can get a good result, I think it could be incredible preparation for the first game at the 2023 World Cup."
