The Vietnamese women's team is in Group E of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup with opponents Guam, UAE, and Maldives. The Group E qualifying round will take place from June 29 to July 5 at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho Province. The teams will compete in a round robin to select the top team to qualify for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals in Australia.

In Group E, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team are considered the most promising candidates for a ticket to the final round. According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will face Maldives (June 29), UAE (July 2) and Guam (July 5).

The 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals will feature 12 teams. The top six teams will qualify for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil (the next two teams will play in an inter-zone play-off). The quarter-finalists of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup will also qualify for the final qualifying round for the 2028 Olympics.

Currently, the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals have determined the 4 participating teams: host Australia, the three teams with the best results in the 2022 Asian Cup are China, South Korea and Japan.

The remaining 8 names will be determined after the qualifying matches. The 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers will feature 34 teams, divided into 8 groups, 2 groups of 5 teams and 6 groups of 4 teams. The 8 group winners will qualify for the 2026 Asian Cup finals.
