Support loans for women to develop economy and start businesses

Representatives of the provincial Women's Union and Nong Cong District Women's Union visited the sewing facility of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet in Hoi Cu village, Hoang Son commune, using loan capital to develop the sewing profession, creating jobs for many workers.

Realizing the favorable conditions of large hilly land and stable consumption market, Ms. Tran Thi Vinh in village 12, Xuan Binh commune (Nhu Xuan) boldly proposed to the Women's Union to borrow capital to develop production. In 2023, the Women's Union of the commune guided her family to complete the procedures and borrow 50 million VND from the district branch of the Social Policy Bank to develop a model of raising pigs, goats, chickens, and growing dragon fruit. Having overcome the "bottleneck" of capital, her family took good care of crops and livestock, so after more than 3 months, they had products to sell, increasing their income. Ms. Vinh shared: "With the trust of the Women's Union of the commune, I have a place to borrow, feel secure in developing the economy , thanks to which my family's life has stabilized".

Implementing the program "Accompanying women in the border areas" in the period of 2021-2025, in 2022, 10 members of the model "Cooperative group for raising indigenous black sows" (Tam Lu commune, Quan Son district) received financial support to buy breeding pigs to develop livestock farming from the source of 1400 support messages. The members participating in the model are all poor households, in difficult circumstances, supported with 100 million VND, buying 6 sows and 44 piglets. The members have connected, shared experiences, supervised, and helped each other take care of the breeding pigs to develop well. After only 1 year of implementation, the total herd of pigs has increased to 199 pigs. Households sold 139 pigs, the total amount of money earned was 333 million VND, after deducting expenses, the profit was 193 million VND/10 households and 3/10 households escaped poverty.

These are 2 of many individuals and collective models of the organization that have been supported with loans to develop production quite effectively. The Provincial Women's Union has determined that loan support brings many practical benefits to female members, helping them develop their family economy, contributing to poverty reduction in the locality. Accordingly, the unions at all levels have effectively implemented trust activities with the social policy bank, the Poor Women Support Fund, and credit with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, microfinance organizations, and the TYM Fund... to mobilize capital for members to borrow. In 2024, the Provincial Women's Union entrusted the social policy bank to manage and use a capital of 18.68 billion VND for poor women and other policy beneficiaries to borrow. In the first 6 months of 2025, the association at all levels continued to promote trust activities with social policy banks, credit with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, microfinance organizations, TYM Fund... with a total outstanding loan of more than 14 trillion VND, lending to nearly 200,000 members and women to develop the economy. The association coordinated with the social policy bank to sign a trust contract for new start-up fund loan sources of more than 2.7 billion VND.

In addition to loan support, the Provincial Women's Union also has many solutions to support women in economic development, such as: Support for product completion - increasing competitiveness in the market. In 2024-2025, the Provincial Women's Union has deployed support for 30 excellent startup ideas/products with support packages such as: brand building, packaging design, labels, support for making product traceability stamps; organizing 42 training courses for more than 2,000 members and women on business skills, production management, product development, brand building and application of digital technology in business; connecting product consumption, expanding the market; supporting bringing products to e-commerce platforms; promoting communication, enhancing product recognition; Diversify activities to support women in starting businesses, establishing enterprises, building collective economic models through implementing the project "Supporting women in starting businesses" and the project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women and creating jobs for female workers"; organizing conferences, seminars, forums; product competitions, startup ideas...

In fact, more and more poor women's households and women who want to start a business are supported with loans and many other conditions for economic development... That affirms the proactiveness and active participation of women's unions at all levels in the province and the determination of the members and women themselves. In 2024, the unions at all levels helped more than 16,200 poor and near-poor households in many forms worth over 14 billion VND; helped 2,831 women escape poverty and near-poverty (exceeding the target of 41 households). From the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole province has more than 8,500 poor and near-poor households receiving support from unions at all levels in many forms, worth over 8 billion VND; awarded 45 breeding cows of the "Cow/Buffalo Bank" model worth nearly 500 million VND; mobilized the establishment of 13 women-owned enterprises.

The results achieved have contributed to the implementation of the tasks and targets set out in the Resolution of the Provincial Women's Congress for the 2021-2026 term: Each association helps at least 5 households, the whole province helps at least 2,800 households with women escape poverty or near-poverty; by the end of the term, the rate of poor households headed by women will be reduced to less than 2%.
