Completing infrastructure of industrial parks and economic zones to improve investment efficiency

On the morning of July 18, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien chaired a working session with the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, relevant departments and branches on the progress of project implementation in industrial parks and economic zones; progress of boundary adjustment and the General Planning for the construction of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone.

According to the report of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, the province currently has 2 economic zones, including Cha Lo border gate economic zone and Lao Bao special trade economic zone; in addition, there are Hon La coastal economic zone and Dong Nam Quang Tri economic zone. There are 15 industrial zones with a total area according to detailed planning of about 3,500 hectares. Currently, the economic zones and industrial zones in the province have 396 approved and registered investment projects, of which 223 projects have come into operation.

The boundary adjustment of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone has been supplemented with an area of 2,350 hectares located in the communes after the merger: Dien Sanh, Hai Lang, Cua Viet and Gio Linh. Of which, the area along National Highway 15D and the North-South Expressway corridor is about 1,220 hectares; the reserve area of Quang Tri Airport and the Aviation Logistics Industrial Complex is about 1,130 hectares. The total area of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone after the boundary adjustment is 26,142 hectares; currently, the general planning adjustment is being organized.

Concluding the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien acknowledged the efforts of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board in performing assigned tasks.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and related departments and branches to select projects with focus, key points, and driving forces of the region, locality, and industry to complete the synchronous and modern infrastructure. For the planning of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, it is necessary to base on the overall research and general orientation of the province to develop a master plan; focus on reviewing and carefully evaluating slow-progressing projects and projects that do not put land into use to propose solutions to improve investment efficiency.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien also requested relevant departments and branches to study and prioritize the implementation of projects involving site clearance, resettlement areas, and connection projects to supplement the medium-term plan to promote socio -economic development, expand the development space of potential economic zones and industrial parks.
