Prince William will not continue his father's legacy when he ascends the throne?

In the recent Apple TV+ episode of 'The Reluctant Traveler,' Prince William said he would leave his own mark as a future monarch, rather than continuing King Charles' legacy.

Specifically, Prince William said he wanted to create "positive changes" for the good. He also added: "I welcome and enjoy that change, not fear it. What excites me is the idea of bringing about some reforms that are not too radical, but necessary."

These statements have raised public curiosity about the specific reforms that the future king is nurturing. But according to Jason Knauf – CEO of the environmental award Earthshot Prize, this is actually a reflection of King Charles's style.

"Prince William truly values his family's tradition and legacy of public service," he said. "The Earthshot Awards are a prime example of how those values can be maintained in the future, but presented in a way that is relevant to the times. That's what his grandmother did, and what his father is still doing: updating traditions to suit the generation they serve."

The Earthshot Prize, which celebrates groundbreaking innovations aimed at saving the planet, is seen as emblematic of the kind of leadership William aspires to embody now and in the future.

Several royal insiders recently made similar comments when speaking to The Telegraph . One senior adviser likened the succession to Doctor Who: "Each successor has to be both completely different and slightly similar. That's how the institution reinvents itself."

Another source added: "That's the secret to royal survival - staying true and changing at the same time. The mistake many people make is thinking that King Charles can (or wants to) become a carbon copy of Queen Elizabeth II."

Prince William also shared his thoughts on tradition in the Apple TV+ show: “There are times when I look at tradition and wonder: 'Is it still relevant today? Is it still the right thing to do? Are we still doing it and making the biggest impact we can?'”

However, Prince William also said that the prospect of one day becoming king is not something he wakes up thinking about every morning, but instead "being true to myself and only being true is what motivates me. I want to create a world where my son is proud of what he does - creating a new world through actions that really impact people's lives for the better."

Prince William also added about the difficult year: "I am very proud of my wife and my father for the way they have managed this past year. My children have also faced the challenge very well."
