Activities of Minister Phan Van Giang in Korea

On the morning of March 28, a high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation led by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense , arrived in Seoul on an official visit to South Korea at the invitation of South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup, beginning activities within the framework of the visit.

Immediately after arriving in Seoul, Minister Phan Van Giang and the high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation visited the 7th Artillery Brigade of the 7th Mobile Corps of the Republic of Korea Army. Lieutenant General Go Hyeon-seok, Commander of the 7th Mobile Corps and Brigadier General Yoon Hyeon-sik, Brigadier General of the 7th Artillery Brigade welcomed Minister Phan Van Giang and the delegation.

The 7th Artillery Brigade was established on November 1, 1989, stationed in Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, with the code name of the Northern Advance Brigade. The Brigade consists of 5 Artillery Companies and the following units: Artillery Repair Workshop, Signal Platoon. In the 5 Artillery Companies of the Brigade, there are 4 K9 Self-Propelled Artillery Companies and 1 Multi-Barrel Rocket Company. The Brigade is responsible for protecting the garrison, preparing for combat situations, strengthening firepower for the front line, and conducting large-scale combat; maintaining regular combat training, ensuring combat strength, and being ready to support the people. In addition, the Brigade is also responsible for protecting the East and North of Seoul.

The K9A1 self-propelled gun is an upgraded version of the 155mm K9 Thunder self-propelled gun with a new fire control system, thermal imaging glasses for the driver and a rear surveillance camera. The K9A1 self-propelled gun has a firing range of 30-56km depending on the type of ammunition, and a maximum speed of 67km/h.

The K10 ammunition reload vehicle uses the same chassis as the K9 self-propelled gun, has a reload speed of 12 rounds/minute and can carry up to 104 rounds of various types of ammunition.
