Animation 'Kungfu Panda 4' sets Vietnamese box office record

Blockbuster "Kungfu Panda 4" earned more than 54 billion VND, becoming the animated film with the highest opening revenue at the Vietnamese box office.

According to Box Office Vietnam - an independent box office observer, the previous achievement belonged to Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) - 39 billion VND in the first week of release.

With 54 billion VND in three days (March 8-10), Kungfu Panda 4 ended Mai 's four-week reign at the domestic box office. Tran Thanh's work fell to second place, earning more than 11 billion VND last weekend. Box Office representatives assessed that with the current ticket sales rate, Kungfu Panda 4 will reach the 100 billion VND mark in a short time.

Kung Fu Panda 4 also topped the international market, earning over $80 million, including over $58 million in North America. Po needs to find and train others to become the Dragon Warrior, before taking up his new position. One day, the witch Chameleon (Viola Davis) appears, threatening the peace of humanity. While tracking the villain, Po comes across Zhen (Awkwafina), a fox wanted for theft. Zhen promises to help Po catch criminals if they both work together. Po and Zhen must convince many other criminals to fight together to defeat Chameleon.

International critics rated the film as average, scoring 6.1/10 on Rotten Tomatoes . Hollywood Reporter commented that with a lively cast of characters and the participation of Quan Ke Huy - an Oscar-winning actor in 2023, the film brought a new breeze to the entire series of popular animated films. Variety rated the script as not as good as the previous parts, commented that Jack Black's voice acting lacked enthusiasm and energy, and the comedy in the film was ineffective.

Kung Fu Panda was first released in 2008, immediately creating a fever with the humorous adventure and martial arts of the panda character Po.
