Vietnamese students won high prizes at ASPC and AUG 2024

From July 2 to 7, the Vietnamese student delegation attended and achieved high results at the 10th ASEAN Science Project Competition (ASPC 2024) held in Thailand.

The competition is organized by the National Science Museum, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand in collaboration with the Thai Science Association, to encourage students to develop 21st century skills in science and technology, communication, innovation and to strengthen the youth network ready to participate in the ASEAN Economic Community.

The competition attracted the participation of 9 countries with 72 students and 39 projects. The Vietnamese delegation participated with 12 students, divided into 6 projects, participating in three fields: physics, biology and applied science.

As a result, the Vietnamese team won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

Specifically: The Gold Medal in Physics belongs to Phan Dinh Bach and Nguyen Son Ha (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted).

The Silver Medal in Biology went to Nguyen Bao Quyen and Dinh Tue Linh (Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School). The Silver Medal in Applied Science went to Nguyen Gia Khoa and Nguyen Duy Hung (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted). The Silver Medal in Biology went to Nguyen Hai Duong and Nguyen Quoc Viet (High School for the Gifted in Pedagogy and Kim Lien High School).

The Bronze Medal in Physics went to Pham Do Ha Anh and Ngo Ha Cam Binh, students of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Nguyen Khuyen High School. The Bronze Medal in Applied Science went to Nguyen Quynh Chi and Nguyen Ngoc Ha (Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary School and High School).

With this achievement, the Vietnamese team ranked second overall (after Singapore). This is also the best result of the Vietnamese team after many times participating in the competition.

Meanwhile, at the 2024 ASEAN University Games (AUG 2024), Vietnamese students won a total of 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals, thereby ranking 4th overall.

The gold medals won by Vietnamese student athletes this time were in athletics (6 gold medals), chess (4 gold medals), and taekwondo (2 gold medals). Vietnam registered to compete in 4 events in the official competition program including swimming, athletics, chess, and taekwondo, and only swimming did not win a gold medal. However, all 4 events had athletes winning medals at AUG 2024.
