Excellent student, passionate about scientific research

Sergeant Nguyen Van Y, a 5th year student of the Airport Construction Class, Company 456B, Battalion 4, Military Technical Academy, was born and raised in the poor border countryside of An Giang province. The dream of becoming an engineer in a military uniform has motivated this young man to overcome all difficulties, constantly strive to train, and become an outstanding student of the Academy in studying and scientific research.

At the Military Technical Academy (KTQS), when mentioning the name Nguyen Van Y, all the students know and admire his outstanding achievements: 4 consecutive years as an excellent student; won second prize (in 2023) and first prize (in 2024) at the National Mechanics Olympiad; was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter of the whole army (in 2024) and was twice awarded a certificate of merit by the Minister of National Defense .

General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense, presented a certificate of merit and a souvenir cup to Senior Sergeant Nguyen Van Y.

Sergeant Nguyen Van Y is always proactive and actively participates in scientific research. In the 2022-2023 school year, the project "Experimental research on noise generation equivalent to the noise intensity of some types of civil and military aircraft" chaired by him was accepted by the Academy with excellent results; in the 2023-2024 school year, the project "Research on determining the law of traffic noise intensity reduction when using shielding panels by experiment" was awarded with good results. In addition, Sergeant Nguyen Van Y is also the co-author of two scientific articles published in specialized construction journals.

Sharing about his motivation in studying, Sergeant Nguyen Van Y said: “I am always proud that my father was a soldier. That became the motivation for me to be determined to study, practice, and explore knowledge in the field of military science. When doing scientific research, there were times when I felt that my knowledge exceeded my limits. However, with the guidance of lecturers and the support of my teammates, I had more motivation to explore and research.”

Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Head of the Road-Airport Department, Institute of Special Construction Engineering, Military Technical Academy (scientific research instructor of Sergeant Nguyen Van Y) informed: The Academy has awarded many scholarships to "support" Nguyen Van Y on his scientific research journey. Recently, Sergeant Nguyen Van Y went to practice at Long Thanh International Airport. The large construction site with thousands of engineers and workers working continuously day and night inspired him to continue his efforts and complete the course well.
