Chon Thanh Town Women's Union strives to accompany women in starting businesses

In recent times, the Association has proactively developed plans and coordinated with local departments, branches and organizations to implement activities to support women in economic development, helping them escape poverty and build prosperous and happy families. Actively integrating with the Association's tasks and the women's movement to implement the activities of the Government's Project 939 on "Supporting women to start a business".

Since 2017, the implementation of Project 939 has brought about many positive changes, contributing to raising awareness and methods to support women in starting and developing businesses. To date, more than 85% of women members have been informed and raised awareness about employment and starting a business, with a total of more than 9,000 members reached, of which 7,600 women have participated in communication activities and training on starting a business.

In particular, the Association supported 15 projects to participate in the "Women's Entrepreneurship" competition, with 8 excellent projects reaching the provincial finals. Among them, 1 project was honored to win the first prize at the provincial level, the second prize at the regional level and the consolation prize at the central level; another project also won the "For the Community" prize at the national level. In addition, the Association also supported the launch of 48 booths to connect and consume price-stabilized products produced by women themselves, helping members have more opportunities to develop their family economy, confidently assert themselves, and at the same time actively contribute to gender equality work in the locality.

Many experience sharing activities related to startups are implemented.

Regarding the implementation method, the Association organized 8 specialized training courses to improve knowledge and skills in starting and running a business for members; at the same time, they participated in 5 training sessions organized by the Association at higher levels. At the same time, the Association also organized practical experience sharing classes for women in communes and wards, with direct participation and sharing from typical local start-up faces.

One of the typical local female startup project owners is Ms. Ngo Thi Bac, the owner of An Nhien Oriental Medicine Spa startup. Her An Nhien Oriental Medicine Spa idea was selected to participate in the 2021 Central Women Startup Competition after passing the provincial preliminary round.

At the end of 2018, Ms. Ngo Thi Bac opened Tam Bac Oriental Medicine Spa in Chon Thanh, initially with only 2 beds specializing in bone and joint therapy, neck and shoulder pain therapy, bone and joint therapy, beauty... As the number of customers increased, by the end of 2019, she expanded the facility and moved to the district center and changed the name to An Nhien Oriental Medicine Spa.

Thanks to the support and encouragement from the local Women's Union and her own efforts, her Spa now has 9 beds, invested in machinery and trained professional staff. The Spa provides many modern combined oriental medicine therapy services, aiming at comprehensive health care.

Understanding that the biggest difficulty for women when starting a business is the lack of capital, the Women's Union of Chon Thanh town has mobilized all resources to help women access preferential loan channels from the Social Policy Bank, and at the same time support capital from the Union's fund. Thanks to that, 182 women have accessed capital with a total amount of more than 6.1 billion VND, most of which are interest-free or low-interest loans, creating favorable conditions for women to develop production and business in many diverse fields such as: Raising chickens, goats, cows; planting and caring for rubber trees, melons; opening grocery stores, breakfast shops, cafes, online businesses, flower shops, seedling warehouses, trading rubber latex, seedlings...

In addition, every year, the Women's Union of the town actively supports and introduces businesses managed and founded by women to participate in major exhibitions and fairs in and outside the province, helping to widely promote typical local products made by the skillful and creative hands of women. Thereby, contributing to increasing the value of products, expanding the consumer market, creating more motivation for women to become masters of the family economy and confidently affirm their position in the community.

Many women have successfully started businesses, creating jobs not only for themselves but also for the community; Many business models led by women are creative, associated with local culture and sustainable development; many women starting small businesses have increased their family income, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction. At the same time, women have actively participated in the economy, raising their voice and position in society."

It can be affirmed that, with its continuous efforts, the Women's Union of Chon Thanh town has become a solid "launching pad" for many women to start successful businesses. Thereby, it has actively contributed to the economic and social development of the locality.
