32nd Diplomatic Conference: Plenary session on economic diplomacy for national development

This morning, December 21, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 32nd Diplomatic Conference - a plenary session on economic diplomacy for national development with the theme "Promoting the pioneering role, building a comprehensive, modern, and strong diplomacy, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress". The meeting was held in person and online. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the conference. Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien attended the conference at the Quang Tri bridge.

Speaking at the meeting, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that since the National Foreign Affairs Conference and the 31st Diplomatic Conference, the world and regional situation has undergone major and complicated changes, affecting the socio -economic development of our country in many ways.

In that context, the diplomatic sector has overcome many difficulties and challenges, and together with other sectors and levels, has synchronously and effectively implemented the pillars of foreign affairs and diplomacy. In the great common achievements of foreign affairs, there is a very important contribution of economic diplomacy. New trends in digital transformation, green transformation, along with the strong development of science and technology and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, are opening up great opportunities for our country to take the lead, develop and progress with the times.

The requirement for economic diplomacy is to maximize the country's new position and strength, take advantage of favorable international conditions and world development trends, strongly arouse national strength and effectively combine external resources, build an independent, self-reliant economy and deeply, comprehensively and effectively integrate into the international community, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's development vision and goals.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended and acknowledged the achievements. At the same time, he requested ministries, branches and localities to have innovative, positive and effective thinking. Grasp the situation, change the approach to advise the Party and State to build a suitable economic diplomacy strategy.

Combine national strength and the strength of the times; learn modern management methods and human resource management. Perfect the institutions of a socialist-oriented market economy; ensure independence, autonomy and active integration. Stay close to reality to do what people and businesses need. Build a team of diplomatic staff with political courage, economic sensitivity, proficiency in diplomatic skills, understanding of the law and having both heart and vision.

The Prime Minister emphasized: In 2024, there will be many intertwined opportunities and challenges, so diplomacy needs to be proactive, close to the new situation; have a strategic vision. Continue to institutionalize the Party's foreign policy, focus on key and key stages; clearly identify the difficulties and challenges that need to be resolved.
