Training conference on propaganda work about seas and islands and Project on developing reading culture in the community

On the morning of August 15, the Department of Grassroots Information in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Ngai province organized the opening of a training conference on information and propaganda about the sea and ocean; sea and islands, protecting Vietnam's legitimate rights and interests in the East Sea and the Project on developing reading culture in the community for more than 200 delegates who are officials, civil servants and public employees of the Department of Culture and Information; the District-level Center for Communication - Culture - Sports; Radio stations of communes, wards, towns and Border Guard Stations of Quang Ngai province.

Attending the training conference were Mr. Nguyen Van Tao, Director of the Department of Grassroots Information, Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC); Ms. Huynh Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Ngai.

At the Conference, delegates were informed about the Project on developing reading culture in the community by Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, Director of the Library Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Chu Hoi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fisheries Association, Member of the Steering Committee of the Global Ocean Forum, reported on the topic of seas and islands, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnam in the East Sea; Mr. Dinh Ngoc Son, Deputy Head of the Department of Radio and Television, Academy of Journalism and Communication, guided on the skills of producing news articles and using social networks for propaganda work.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Director of the Department of Grassroots Information Nguyen Van Tao said that our Party and State have identified reading culture as the foundation of knowledge development, an important factor contributing to the prosperity and sustainable development of the country. Therefore, the development of reading culture needs to be promoted to raise awareness and encourage each citizen. At the same time, the Director also assessed that in the context of the complicated developments in the regional and world situation, strengthening information and propaganda about the sea, islands and protecting national sovereignty in the East Sea is an extremely important and urgent task, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the community, bringing the Party and State's policies and guidelines to the people, thereby creating a combined strength to protect and maintain the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

In addition, equipping skills in news and radio production; video clip production skills; and social media usage skills in information and propaganda activities at the grassroots level also play an important role in serving information and propaganda work at the local level.
