(NLĐO) - After 5 years of construction being halted and left unfinished, the Bảo Lộc city bypass ( Lâm Đồng province) is about to have a project planned for its completion.

On March 2-3, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Transportation Project Management Board as the investor and to prepare a report proposing the investment policy for the project to complete the Bao Loc City bypass.

Construction on the Bao Loc city bypass has been halted for nearly five years after approximately 70% of the project was completed.

The Department of Finance is responsible for determining funding sources, the ability to balance local budget funds, and coordinating with relevant units to implement investment procedures in accordance with regulations.

The Bao Loc city bypass, over 15 km long and costing 806 billion VND, commenced construction in February 2017 and is expected to be completed and put into use in 2019. This is an additional item using surplus funds from the National Highway 20 renovation project, which was under the management of the former Ministry of Transport .

In 2023, the bypass road suffered serious landslides.

However, construction on this route had to be temporarily suspended from October 2020, when approximately 70% of the project had been completed. This suspension was at the direction of the Ministry of Transport to await additional funding.

According to a report from the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the old project has completed 15 km of roadbed, crushed stone base, cement-stabilized crushed stone, and drainage system; basically completed 10/15 km of C19 asphalt concrete road surface and completed 3 reinforced concrete bridges.

Despite local authorities prohibiting traffic, many people still ride motorbikes into the area, posing a risk of accidents.

Construction on the road has been halted for nearly five years, causing road sections to deteriorate and landslides due to storms, affecting traffic flow and safety for residents in the area.

The remaining work to be completed includes approximately 5 km of C19 asphalt concrete paving; 15 km of C12.5 asphalt concrete paving along the entire route; the incomplete longitudinal drainage system; the intersection with National Highway 55; and the safety system along the entire route.

According to the report, the estimated cost to complete the Bảo Lộc city bypass project is approximately 352 billion VND.
