Workshop on the topic "Research and proposal of solutions for comprehensive management of groundwater resources to adapt to climate change in Ca Mau province".

The workshop was chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Van Pham Dang Tri, Director of the Institute for Climate Change Research. Attending the workshop were representatives of the Department of Science and Technology, the Southern Water Resources Planning and Investigation Federation, the Irrigation Sub-Department, the Center for Meteorology and Hydrology; the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation and relevant agencies and units.

The project is chaired by Can Tho University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Van Pham Dang Tri as the head of the project with the main objectives: assessing the fluctuations of groundwater resources; groundwater quality dynamics; developing climate change scenarios for the period 2030, 2050, 2070; proposing solutions for comprehensive management of groundwater resources to adapt to the impacts of climate change...

Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Van Pham Dang Tri said: The research team has basically completed the contents according to the approved explanatory notes. The workshop aims to report and ask for comments from delegates on: Current status of groundwater resources and state management in Ca Mau province; assessment of groundwater quality dynamics in Ca Mau province; model for assessing changes in groundwater reserves and scenarios of climate change impacts on groundwater levels in Ca Mau province in the period of 2030, 2050 and 2070.

At the workshop, delegates acknowledged the efforts and results of implementing the project to apply research results to the management of groundwater resources in the locality; however, the research team needs to review, update, and adjust more information and data related to groundwater and groundwater reserve fluctuation assessment models to propose scenarios and solutions for overall management of groundwater resources in Ca Mau province.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Van, representative of the Department of Science and Technology, acknowledged the efforts of the research team, requested the research team to review the comments of the attending delegates, make appropriate adjustments to complete the summary report, conduct the acceptance of the facility and submit the provincial acceptance dossier to the Department of Science and Technology in a timely manner according to regulations.
