(QBĐT) - On June 13, the Management Board of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (PN-KB National Park) organized a consultation workshop on the dossier of the PN-KB World Biosphere Reserve. Attending were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, units and localities.

The nominated PN-KB World Biosphere Reserve has a total area of ​​over 513,260 hectares and a population of 133,642 people. Of which, the core zone of the World Biosphere Reserve is taken from the boundary of the core zone of PN-KB National Park and the heritage area of ​​PN-KB National Park, located in 2 districts, 8 communes/towns (after the merger, there are 5 communes), with an area of ​​123,326 hectares; the buffer zone is taken from the buffer zone boundary of PN-KB National Park located in 3 districts, 13 communes/towns, with an area of ​​220,000 hectares (after the merger, there are 7 communes); the transition zone is taken from the communes surrounding the buffer zone located in 3 districts, 21 communes, with an area of ​​169,881 hectares (after the merger, there are 10 communes).

At the workshop, delegates gave many comments to complete the nomination dossier for the PN-KB World Biosphere Reserve in preparation for the international workshop held in Hanoi .

It is known that the PN-KB World Biosphere Reserve is a typical standard model of biodiversity of the Northern Truong Son ecological region - one of 200 globally important ecological regions; at the same time, it is a typical model in combining nature conservation with sustainable development.
