On March 3, the entire army held a ceremony to launch the 2025 training campaign. This is the year of the Party Congresses at all levels in the Army Party Committee towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. 2025 is also the year the entire army basically completes the adjustment of the force organization towards a lean, compact, and strong force. So, what will be the focuses and breakthroughs in the training work of the entire army in 2025? VOV reporter interviewed Major General Vu Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Military Training - Schools, General Staff.
By 2025, no live ammunition or explosives will be used in exercises.
Reporter: Major General Vu Viet Hung, 2025 is the year when the entire army basically completes its organizational structure in the direction of being lean, compact, and strong, with many new units being established due to the process of merging and adjusting the organization and forces. Could you please tell us more about the key points in the training work of the entire army?
Major General Vu Viet Hung: In recent years, the training work of the entire army has closely followed the roadmap of adjusting the army's organization and staffing towards being lean, compact, and strong. The training process is always innovative, close to reality, meeting the requirements of the task of building the army in the new period.
To successfully carry out the training mission in 2025, first of all, the entire army must continue to thoroughly grasp, deploy, and seriously implement Resolution No. 1659 of the Central Military Commission on improving the quality of training in the 2023-2030 period in the following years; the 2025 military and defense work order of the Chief of the General Staff and instructions of the Ministry of National Defense's functional agencies on training work.
Units need to specify targets and solutions that are close to the characteristics and tasks of each unit, in order to change both the awareness and actions of officers and soldiers, especially the team of cadres in charge.
The second issue is that we must continue to innovate in terms of content, organization, and training methods. Training must be basic, focusing on training from individuals, teams to small squads, especially in the training phase of new soldiers. Organize night training, high-intensity training in all conditions, training in movement, camouflage, deception, training in both techniques and tactics, training in physical strength, psychology, and discipline, training officers and soldiers to know how to flexibly apply the knowledge they have learned in creativity and handling situations.
Third, we must continue to innovate in the organization and methods of exercises. Exercises at all levels take many forms, including confrontation exercises and short-preparation exercises. And in 2025, we will not use live ammunition or explosives in exercises. Continue to apply information technology, simulation technology and exercise training to meet mission requirements.
PV: In the second quarter, the units will focus on training new soldiers. So what is new in the content and program of training new soldiers this year?
Major General Vu Viet Hung: Training new soldiers is the first step, the foundation for forming the qualities, bravery and qualifications of revolutionary soldiers. The results of training new soldiers are also the basis for us to improve the quality of combat training in the next stages.
In terms of content, this year's training program has not had any major changes. However, with the increasingly high quality requirements, to meet the requirements of the task, the organization of methods, especially the organization of training methods, tests, competitions, and sports events, must be innovated.
Regarding infantry combat techniques, promote the results, apply the experience in building excellent infantry combat technique training units in 2024, replicate throughout the army, increase the rate of good and excellent and have many excellent company-level units in all three contents. At the same time, ensure absolute safety during training and testing.
In terms of tactics, we must organize very basic training, from posture and movement on the field, to each person in combat. And especially this year, the sports festival ends for new soldiers, units must include the content of individual comprehensive training in the sports festival, to improve the ability to apply principles as well as handle situations flexibly and creatively for the troops.
Regarding the command, especially the command of the formation, we must train very basically. This is a class of soldiers ready to participate in the formation blocks in the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day on September 2. We train individual movements well, it will be convenient when participating in joint training, practicing in each line, each block.
In 2025, the Ministry will not organize inspection teams but form teams located directly in a number of units, both inspecting and guiding training units, especially units training new soldiers.
PV: Recently, the entire army has made adjustments to its force organization, so a number of new units have been established. How have the training missions in these units been prepared, Major General?
Major General Vu Viet Hung: Good training preparation is also the basis for improving training quality. Therefore, from the beginning of the year, units, especially newly established units, have been proactive in implementation, creating a very exciting and widespread competitive atmosphere throughout the army. Preparations for 2025, through inspection, have been relatively comprehensive. In particular, focusing on a number of contents. First of all, focusing on training cadres at all levels.
Training for officers was organized at many levels, 100% of officers participated in the training. The content focused on new and difficult content, including organization of methods, training, and practical movements for officers. Shooting exercises of some newly equipped weapons such as AGS guns and 40mm grenade launchers were tested in the training of units to gain experience for officers in organizing unit training in the future. Simulation equipment, electronic shooting ranges, and TBS shooting practice equipment were also checked, preserved, and ready for training.
3-phase training for the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South
PV: Major General, currently military units are practicing for the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Could you tell us about the training progress of the units?
Major General Vu Viet Hung: The Military Training Department - School has advised the Head of the Ministry to form the Parade and March Subcommittee of the Ministry of National Defense and invited representatives of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to participate. At the same time, complete the system of parade and march documents such as training programs, preliminary review plans, general rehearsals, and official ceremonies for units participating in the parade.
The units have conducted inspections and selected comrades who meet the standards of appearance and health and organized the blocks according to regulations, both official and reserve. We organized the training into 3 phases.
Phase 1 is basic training at the unit. Currently, we are training phase 2, concentrated training in 4 clusters: Cluster 1 is at National Training Center 4; Cluster 2 is at Engineer Regiment 270, Military Region 5; Cluster 3 is at Military School of Army Corps 34 and Cluster 4 is at Military School of Military Region 7. According to the plan, on April 7, we will move into Ho Chi Minh City for general training, preliminary review, and final rehearsal. And we will organize to carry out the official mission on April 30.
Through inspection, the basic training blocks achieved good results, and began to combine blocks to organize training and joint training. Currently, the security work such as ensuring military supplies, weapons, equipment, and vehicles is being actively deployed. Although the weather is erratic and the training intensity is high, 100% of officers and soldiers participate in training with determination to overcome difficulties, high determination in organizing training and joint training, and determination to complete the task excellently.
