More than 1.5 million entries entered the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

On the afternoon of November 25, in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics chaired and coordinated with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Central Theoretical Council, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Journalists Association to summarize 5 years of organizing the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation (2021-2025).

Attending the conference were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee 35, Head of the Competition Steering Committee; Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Party Central Committee members: Ngo Dong Hai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Hoang Trung Dung, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; Doan Minh Huan, Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations; leaders of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; leaders of a number of localities; and members of the Central Steering Committee 35, members of the Organizing Committee and the Competition Secretariat.

Reporting at the conference, comrade Duong Trung Y, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, stated: The political contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation was held for the first time in 2021, for cadres and lecturers of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and political schools of provinces and centrally run cities. After the success of the first contest, the Central Steering Committee 35 decided to upgrade the contest to a national scale, assigning the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to preside over and coordinate with the Central Propaganda Department (now the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department), the Central Theoretical Council, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Journalists Association to co-organize.

After 5 years, the contest has recorded many outstanding results, a bright spot in the implementation of Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018 of the Politburo on "Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views in the new situation".

With innovation in thinking and organization, after 5 times of organization, the contest has spread widely both domestically and internationally, with the number of entries increasing each year with more than 1.5 million entries in 5 categories (written newspaper, magazine, video clip, radio, television).

Notably, the contest participants not only attracted core staff of the Steering Committee 35 at all levels, theoretical research agencies, reporters, editors of news agencies and newspapers, but also attracted a large number of authors from many social sectors, occupations, and ages. Many authors come from remote, border, and island areas; the authors are officials, embassy staff, Vietnamese students working and studying abroad, scientists at research institutes, and officials at foreign media agencies.

The contest also received attention, response and participation from many foreign scholars and politicians, such as the General Secretary of the Swiss Communist Party, a number of leading Marxist research experts from major research institutes in China, officials from the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, the Communist Party of the United States, Italy...

Over the past 5 years of organization, the Steering Committee of the contest has awarded 570 prizes to authors and groups of authors with excellent works, including 480 official prizes and 90 promising prizes; presented prizes to 8 typical old and young authors; including many authors and groups of authors who have won high prizes many times. The Steering Committee has also awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 80 excellent groups, many of which have achieved good results over many seasons.

Comrade Duong Trung Y emphasized: The political contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation is a creative and effective way to raise awareness, consciousness and responsibility of cadres, party members and people in the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation. Through the contest, cadres, party members and people will more clearly identify false and distorted arguments to improve "resistance" and create "immunity" against bad and toxic information.

At the same time, the contest has brought together new ideas, good initiatives, unique works, enthusiastic and responsible arguments and interpretations on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, contributing to consolidating and developing the Party's ideological foundation, realizing the goal of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, prosperous, happy Vietnam, steadily moving towards socialism.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, affirmed that over the past 5 years, the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation has created a strong change in the awareness and actions of the entire political system; arousing the sense of responsibility, courage and intelligence of cadres, party members, intellectuals, artists and the masses in the struggle to protect the Party's ideological foundation and fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

In order for the contest to continue to promote its role and spread more widely in the coming period, comrade Trinh Van Quyet suggested that the conference exchange and discuss in depth the results, content, methods, and approaches in directing the implementation and coordination of the contest; propose solutions to innovate ideological struggle methods in cyberspace, apply artificial intelligence, analyze big data, and strengthen coordination between forces to proactively identify and promptly handle bad and toxic information.

At the same time, analyze and clarify the exemplary responsibility and pioneering spirit of cadres and party members in the struggle to protect the Party's ideological foundation, especially young cadres, journalists, media, and core forces at the grassroots level, spreading and creating a position of people's hearts and minds so that the struggle to protect the Party's ideological foundation will become increasingly more in-depth, substantial, and effective in the coming time.

The conference discussed and evaluated the results achieved in the leadership and direction of the contest; shared lessons learned, new innovative models, proposed and recommended issues and solutions to continue improving the quality, efficiency, and promoting the significance and influence of the contest in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee 35, Head of the Steering Committee of the contest, emphasized that after 5 times of organization, the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation has clearly affirmed its important role, a prominent "bright spot" in the work of building the Party in terms of ideology, protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the past term, making an important contribution to the work of building the Party in terms of ideology continuing to be strongly innovated, going into depth, contributing to strengthening solidarity and unity within the Party and the political system.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang assessed that the number of more than 1.5 million entries after 5 years of organization is not only significant in terms of quantity but also demonstrates the strong influence of the contest in political and social life. The success of the contest has created an important impetus for the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views, and at the same time, posing the requirement to continue to maintain and further promote the achieved results, so that the contest is truly a widespread political activity in the entire political system and society.

To continue to spread and organize the contest well in the coming time, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang requested to continue to unify the awareness of the role, position, meaning, importance and unique "identity" of the contest; in which, Party committees, heads of agencies, units and localities consider this an important task, need to focus on directing, contributing to protecting the Party, State and people, protecting the cause of building socialism in the new era.

Continue to improve the professional quality of the competition, associated with solving new theoretical and practical problems in the era of national development; closely combine "building" and "fighting", in which we must aim to build and strengthen scientific trust for cadres, party members and people in the Party's revolutionary strategic policies, preventing from the root the distorted arguments of hostile forces with products of clear "political" nature.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of the contest should orient the contest theme each year, and that units and localities should specify it to fit the reality of their units and localities. Along with that, proactively discover and nurture new factors with good achievements in the annual contest to supplement the team of collaborators of the Steering Committee 35 of units and localities, along with consolidating the existing force.

In particular, it is necessary to effectively exploit the contest products to serve propaganda work; select quality works to build a database and "handbook" for other forces to research and refer to; organize editing and publishing books to disseminate the winning works as reference materials for units and localities as well as to use as documents to build propaganda products.

The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Central and local competitions should proactively research and innovate the form of competition organization to be closer and more suitable to reality. At the same time, there should be a form of recognition and commendation for authors and groups of authors with high achievements to create motivation and spread the results of the competition.

On this occasion, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics awarded Certificates of Merit to 20 collectives and 28 individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
