More than 1,500 players from 56 units nationwide will compete in the 2025 National Youth Chess Championship. This number shows the growing appeal of the leading intellectual playground for young people.

On June 17, at Ninh Binh Provincial Gymnasium, the 2025 National Youth Chess Championship officially opened, attracting more than 1,500 players from 56 units nationwide.

This is the most important tournament in the national youth chess system, organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, taking place from June 17 to 26.

This year's tournament brings together an excellent group of young players, including many who have just won international medals such as: Dau Khuong Duy, Nguyen Nam Kiet, Duong Vu Anh, Hoang Tan Vinh, Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Nguyen Bao Nam, Tran Hoang Bao An... along with many young international grandmasters, promising dramatic competitions with high professional quality.

Athletes will compete in 160 individual and team medal sets, divided into 10 age groups from 6 to 20 (male and female), with 4 competition events: standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and traditional chess.

Through the tournament, the Vietnam Chess Federation will select core players to participate in international youth tournaments in 2026 - an important preparation step to raise the level of Vietnamese chess on the world stage.
