The 2023 International Children's Painting Competition "I Love Hanoi - City for Peace" attracted the participation of more than 300 children from primary and secondary schools, Horixzion International Bilingual School, Hanoi's gifted clubs and children from countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Russia, Mexico, India, Korea, South Africa, Turkey, Spain... studying and living in Hanoi.
This is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and international children to exchange, meet and promote friendship and solidarity.
The contest attracted more than 300 children from many countries living in Hanoi to participate.
At the contest, contestants practiced drawing directly for 90 minutes using colors of their choice such as watercolors, wax colors, powder colors, oil paints, markers, crayons... Drawing materials such as easels, drawing boards, drawing paper, A3 size paper were fully and carefully prepared by the organizers.
In her opening speech, Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong said that the international children's painting contest I love Hanoi - City for Peace is for Vietnamese and foreign teenagers and children (aged 6 - 15) living and studying in Hanoi.
Children with a passion for painting enthusiastically participated in the contest.
"The contest is meaningful in propagating andeducating about the love of peace for Vietnamese and international children and teenagers; promoting the image of Hanoi - the thousand-year-old capital; at the same time deeply expressing the love for the homeland, country, love for peace and humanity, the dream of a peaceful, stable and developing world, without war and poverty," said Ms. Phuong.
In addition, the contest also arouses children's passion for painting, stimulates their creative artistic thinking; searches, discovers and nurtures, creating a healthy playground to help young talents have the opportunity to exchange, learn and develop their painting skills.
Many foreign children enjoyed participating in the contest.
Evaluating the entries this year, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Chairman of the Hanoi Fine Arts Association, said that most of the entries were of good quality, showing a clear view of Hanoi as a city for peace. The teenagers and children have promoted their creative thinking well and conveyed the colors and content in their paintings. However, besides the outstanding works, there are still some paintings that were not completed on time and had some unfortunate errors.
The jury selected 56 winning works including: 1 first prize, 5 second prizes, 10 third prizes and 40 consolation prizes. The overall first prize went to contestant Ngo Thi Ha An (Ai Mo Secondary School, Long Bien District, Hanoi).

Having a child who is a contestant, the couple Alexandra and Mauro said that this is a very meaningful contest because in the current world context, protecting peace and maintaining world security is very important. As foreigners living in Vietnam, Mr. Alexandra and his wife expressed their hope that through this activity, their child will develop love and integrate into life here.
