The Honda HR-V has just received a mild update in the US market to maintain its position as the most popular SUV among first-time car buyers and Gen Z. At the same time, this is also the top choice of small SUV among Hispanic consumers, according to an official press release from the Japanese brand. Unlike the global Honda HR-V currently available in many different markets such as Vietnam, the version sold in the US has a completely different design and larger size.
Also known as the Honda ZR-V in some markets like China, the model will debut in the US in 2023, sharing the same platform as the current-generation Honda Civic. For the 2026 model year, the US-market Honda HR-V will be available in three trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L. The LX and EX-L versions have a new Solar Reflection Metallic paint color. The Sport version has an optional Boost Blue Pearl paint color with a black logo on the rear trunk. Apart from these new features, the overall design of the car remains the same as the old version. The 2026 Honda HR-V uses a new set of alloy wheels in sizes of 17 inches and 18 inches. Notably, the highest-end EX-L version is now equipped with larger 18-inch wheels than the previous generation.
Inside, the 2026 Honda HR-V is equipped with a new infotainment system with a 9-inch touchscreen, 2 inches larger than the old version and supports wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, similar to its sibling CR-V. In addition, Honda also integrates wireless phone charging as standard equipment, a very worthy upgrade for this model. Likewise, dark-tinted rear glass is now standard across the range, with the top-of-the-line EX-L getting silver steering wheel spokes, multi-color (red, blue and white) climate control buttons, and front footwell lighting. Other notable features of the 2026 Honda HR-V in the US market include a 7-inch digital dashboard and a 4- to 8-speaker sound system, depending on the version. The Honda Sensing safety technology package continues to be standard equipment, including features such as adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic headlights, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and collision mitigation braking.
All three versions of the 2026 Honda HR-V in the US market use a 2.0L, naturally aspirated, inline-4 gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 158 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 187 Nm at 4,200 rpm. This VTEC, DOHC engine is combined with a CVT automatic transmission and FWD front-wheel drive. If you want to equip the car with AWD, American consumers need to spend an additional $1,500. The selling price of the 2026 Honda HR-V in the US ranges from $26,200 - $31,550 (about 680 - 819 million VND), not including the shipping fee of $1,395. It can be seen that the above improvements come with an additional price increase of $800.
