Chinese automaker FAW Group announced that the HS6 PHEV model under its luxury brand Hongqi (Hongqi) has set a Guinness World Record. Specifically, the car achieved the longest driving distance for a plug-in hybrid SUV after a full charge and refueling. The car departed from Shangri-La on October 30, passing through cities such as Kunming, Baise and Wuzhou, and finally arrived in Guangzhou on November 3, traveling a total of 2,327.343km, after filling up the tank and charging it.
The HS6 PHEV is Hongqi's new D-segment model. It is expected to be released on November 15 in China as a 5-seat SUV. In terms of design, the car still retains all the brand's characteristics from the time when Hongqi only made cars for Chinese leaders. In terms of dimensions, the Hongqi HS6 PHEV has dimensions (L x W x H) of (4995/1960/1760) mm, and a wheelbase of 2920 mm. Depending on the version, the unladen weight is 2,040 kg, 2,160 kg, and 2,285 kg. At the front, the closed radiator grille is designed in a waterfall style with 12 vertical chrome bars and a logo recreating the red flag of Hongqi. Inside, the multi-layered dashboard features an integrated dual-screen system that includes a central control display and a passenger entertainment display, along with a digital instrument cluster and a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Other features include a 50W wireless charger for mobile phones and dual cup holders in the center console, a built-in refrigerator, and a 12-speaker sound system. Both front and rear seats are electrically adjustable, ventilated, and heated.
In addition, the zero-gravity passenger seat is equipped with a footrest and supports a 10-point massage function. The standard luggage compartment capacity is 503 liters, with an additional 49 liters of hidden space. When the rear seats are folded down, the luggage compartment volume increases to 1,977 liters. Power comes from a 1.5l turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a maximum capacity of 110kW (148 horsepower), maximum torque of 225Nm with a thermal efficiency of 45.21%. Consumers can choose between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive with a top speed of 205km/h. Total system output is 168kW (225hp) and 369kW (495hp) respectively.
23.9kWh and 39.5kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery options give the CLTC all-electric ranges of 152km, 250km and 235km. The comprehensive operating range of the Hongqi HS6 PHEV model announced by the Chinese car company is 1,580km, 1,650km and 1,460km for each version respectively. Although official pricing has yet to be confirmed, the Hongqi HS6 PHEV is expected to be positioned in the mid- to high-end SUV segment, with an estimated price range of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan (about 739 million - 1,108 billion VND), depending on configuration and battery options.
