On the afternoon of August 26, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Governor of Aichi Prefecture Omura Hideaki, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
At the reception, Governor Aichi Omura Hideaki congratulated Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on being elected by the National Assembly to the position of Deputy Prime Minister, expressing his joy at being the first international guest to be received by the Deputy Prime Minister.
Regarding cooperation activities with Vietnam, Governor Omura Hideaki said that Aichi Prefecture has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on investment promotion with the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on friendly cooperation with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
During his visit to Vietnam, Governor Omura Hideaki had meetings with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and airlines Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet to discuss cooperation opportunities between Aichi Prefecture and Vietnam in the fields of transport and investment.
According to Governor Omura Hideaki, there are currently more than 200 businesses headquartered in Aichi Prefecture investing in Vietnam, ranking first among Japanese localities with businesses investing in Vietnam.
Aichi Prefecture is also home to about 60,000 Vietnamese people, making it the locality with the largest Vietnamese community in Japan, followed by Tokyo with about 54,000 people.
Aichi Governor Omura Hideaki hopes the Vietnamese Government will consider opening a Consulate General in Nagoya and encourage airlines to increase flight frequency and open new routes to Aichi Prefecture.
Welcoming Governor Omura Hideaki's 6th visit to Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son believes that the visit will contribute to strongly promoting the friendly cooperation between Aichi province and Vietnam, contributing to the overall development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight at the qualitative progress in the Vietnam-Japan relationship in recent times, with the highlight being the upgrading of the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership; emphasizing that the achievements of the bilateral relationship over the past 50 years are a solid foundation, inspiration and motivation for the two countries to continue developing their bilateral relationship more deeply and substantially.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that during his recent official visit to Japan, he and the Japanese Foreign Minister chaired the 13th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee with many substantive contents to concretize the new framework of relations between the two countries.
Appreciating the cooperation activities between Aichi prefecture and ministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government attaches great importance to enhancing cooperation between localities of the two countries, considering this a pillar in the overall relationship between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated and thanked the efforts of the Governor and the Aichi Prefecture government in creating favorable conditions for the community of nearly 60,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Aichi Prefecture.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son suggested that in the coming time, the Aichi provincial government and Governor Omura Hideaki continue to pay attention to promoting delegation and people-to-people exchanges, enhancing substantive and effective cooperation with ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam in many flexible forms.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also asked Aichi Prefecture to continue to pay attention to and encourage its enterprises to invest more in Vietnam, especially in areas where the province has strengths such as automobile manufacturing, railways, aviation, and high-tech agriculture; affirming that the Vietnamese Government is making efforts to perfect institutions and reform administration to create favorable conditions for Japanese enterprises to successfully invest and do business in Vietnam.
The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that Aichi Prefecture expand the reception of Vietnamese interns and workers to work in the province, contributing to the socio-economic development of Aichi Prefecture and helping Vietnam train high-quality human resources to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son hopes that Aichi Prefecture will support and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese airlines to increase frequency and open new routes to Aichi Prefecture, contributing to promoting trade, investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchange between Aichi and localities of Vietnam.
