International tourism cooperation, promoting green and sustainable border tourism development - Cao Bang Electronic Newspaper

As a province with more than 333 km of border adjacent to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China), with a system of international border gates, main border gates and many openings, along with majestic natural landscapes, diverse and unique cultural traditions, these are the conditions that create potential and strengths to form border tourism routes, develop economic, trade and cultural exchanges between the two sides. In particular, the province strengthens the implementation of international tourism cooperation models, promotes the development of border tourism, contributes to job creation, improves the lives of border communities and contributes to strengthening national defense and security.

In recent years, the province has focused on developing infrastructure to serve the development of trade, services and tourism in border gate areas more and more synchronously. The province has invested in building and completing projects to develop key economic and social infrastructure in border areas and border gates; creating conditions for travel agencies to build and exploit cross-border tourism routes, thereby significantly increasing the number of tourists completing immigration procedures through the province's border gates, especially Tra Linh International Border Gate. Along with investing in tourism infrastructure development, the province has coordinated with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to build new tourism products, build Cao Bang - Tinh Tay tours, which can be visited in one day and 2-day-1-night tours...

In order to develop border tourism , the coordination of travel management between Cao Bang and Guangxi is of interest to leaders of both sides. Every year, the two sides' governments hold talks on the fields of economy, trade, and tourism. Therefore, the coordination and participation in tourism promotion between the two sides are enhanced, notably actively promoting the implementation of the Agreement on cooperation in protecting and exploiting tourism resources of Ban Gioc waterfall (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China); building a model of cross-border tourism, green tourism; strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism with contents such as: strengthening cooperation in promoting tourism markets, implementing cooperation in training tourism human resources, focusing on building more products, tours, and cross-border tourism routes.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Quoc Trung said: The tourism sector has advised the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee to implement many specific solutions such as: enhancing information exchange, coordinating to promptly resolve arising issues; organizing regular talks and discussions between the two border localities to unify the direction of tourism product development between Cao Bang (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China). The goal is to form common, attractive and highly competitive tourism products to serve tourists from both countries. In particular, focusing on implementing the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Minutes of Talks between the People's Committee of Cao Bang province and the People's Government of Baise city, Guangxi; between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Cao Bang and the Department of Culture, Communications, Sports and Tourism of Baise. In particular, the two sides agreed to restore and announce the Cao Bang - Bach Sac tourist route, promote cooperation in building and exploiting the "red" tourist route across the Pac Bo (Vietnam) - Mach Ma (China) border. This is a new tourist product with profound political , historical and cultural significance, contributing to tightening the Vietnam - China friendship, while opening up a direction for sustainable border tourism development for Cao Bang.

At the meeting between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Cao Bang province (Vietnam) and the Department of Culture, Communications, Sports and Tourism of Baise city, Guangxi (China) held in Cao Bang province in May 2025, a number of contents related to exchange and cooperation activities in the fields of culture, tourism and sports between the two sides were discussed and agreed upon. Here, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cultural and tourism cooperation; witnessed the signing between travel companies and businesses of Cao Bang (Vietnam) and Baise (China). They expressed their belief that in the coming time, the cooperation between the two sides will continue to achieve many results and become more substantial; continue to inherit, preserve and deepen the traditional friendship between the two Parties and the two States of Vietnam and China.

Mr. Luc Ba, Director of the Department of Culture, Communications, Sports and Tourism of Baise City, Guangxi (China) emphasized: In order to inherit and promote the tradition of friendship "the close relationship between Vietnam and China as comrades and brothers", continue to deepen and further enhance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China; at the same time, concretize the common perception reached between the high-ranking leaders of the two parties and the two states of Vietnam and China, in recent years, the two sides have actively coordinated in the fields of tourism and culture, achieving positive results. Cao Bang Province (Vietnam) and Baise City (China) jointly exploit and develop Vietnam-China border tourism products, improve the level of tourist reception services, find ways to facilitate customs clearance and travel documents for tourists, strengthen the construction of tourism infrastructure, exchange and share tourist resources, and create favorable conditions for tourism businesses on both sides.

To continue to develop, diversify tourism products and increase the core values ​​of the culture and tourism sector, the province promotes international cooperation between the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark (Vietnam) and the Lac Nghiep - Phuong Son Global Geopark (China) to develop common tourism routes, destinations and products, creating a spillover effect and enhancing the position of border tourism. In the long-term orientation, the Cao Bang tourism industry focuses on developing border tourism associated with community tourism, promoting the value of cultural heritage, geological heritage and traditional craft villages. At the same time, it focuses on investing in infrastructure, improving service quality, enhancing promotion, training tourism human resources and raising people's awareness of preserving cultural identity associated with economic development.

Promoting border tourism cooperation is a suitable step to develop tourism in depth, focusing on quality, sustainability and targeting the international market. The talks and announcement of the opening of the border tourism route are positive signals, opening up opportunities for connection between tourism service businesses in Cao Bang province (Vietnam) and Baise city (China).

Cross-border tourism routes not only promote economic development but also serve as a bridge for cultural exchange between people of the two countries.
