Ms. Vi Thi Nghia, Director of Ban San Cooperative shared: Realizing that the area has strengths in growing agricultural products, however, the output is unstable, prices are unstable, when there is a good harvest, the price drops, when the price is good, the crop fails, so in 2020, Ban San Cooperative was established and by 2024, it was converted into Ban San Cooperative with 7 members with the desire to grow, link production, and support people to consume agricultural products.
With a clear goal, when entering production, the Cooperative has deployed planting and cooperated with local people to grow baby cucumbers on an area of over 20 hectares. Not only stopping at providing seeds and cultivation techniques, the Cooperative also cooperated with the ORGANIC Xuong Lam General Production and Service Cooperative ( Bac Giang province) to sign a contract to purchase products at a stable price for local people.
Ms. Vi Thi Vien, Ban San village, Dong Quan commune said: Baby cucumber is a short-term crop, grown once a year (about 35 - 40 days to harvest), but before my family did not dare to do it because we were worried about not having an output. Since the establishment of the cooperative, my family has signed a contract to link production and consumption with an area of 3 sao. During the planting and care process, the cooperative regularly exchanges on planting and care techniques, and pest control. Therefore, the productivity and output of baby cucumber are always high. Up to now, my family has grown 4 crops, this year alone, the estimated output is over 2 tons, with a value of over 20 million VND, much higher than growing rice and corn.
Along with Mrs. Vien's household, the 2025 baby cucumber crop, the cooperative's growing area and the households associated with consumption all achieved high quality productivity. As soon as the harvest was completed, the households were purchased by Ban San Cooperative at a stable price of 4,000 - 11,000 VND/kg depending on the size. On average, each crop, the cooperative purchased about 100 tons of cucumbers (regular cucumbers and baby cucumbers) for people in the commune and neighboring communes.
In addition, Ban San Cooperative also consumes other agricultural products for people inside and outside the commune such as: potatoes, chili, pumpkin... Accordingly, on average each crop, the Cooperative purchases about 70 tons of chili and over 200 tons of potatoes and pumpkin from people, ensuring prices equal to or higher than market prices. Thanks to that, the annual revenue of the Cooperative reaches about 700 million VND. From effective production, the Cooperative has created seasonal jobs for 5-7 local workers with an income of 250,000 - 300,000 VND/day.
Ms. Duong Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Loc Binh district, assessed: In the past time, Ban San Cooperative has proactively linked with local people to produce and bring practical efficiency, contributing to creating jobs for local workers, helping people no longer worry about the situation of "good harvest, low price". This is also an important premise for implementing the linkage chain, building agricultural product brands in the area, helping the agricultural sector develop in a sustainable direction. In the coming time, the unit will continue to train, promote capacity building for cooperatives and guide and connect cooperatives to access appropriate policies for cooperatives to develop, creating more jobs for local workers.
With these results, in February 2025, the Cooperative was awarded a certificate of merit by the Commune People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement. According to the director of Ban San Cooperative, in the coming time, the Cooperative will continue to expand production and consumption linkages, helping people feel secure in production. From the effectiveness in finding markets for products, Ban San Cooperative has been and is truly a "bridge" helping people feel secure in investing and developing, contributing to promoting socio -economic development in Dong Quan commune in particular and Loc Binh district in general.
