Chinese technology group Huawei on May 19 announced two laptops running the HarmonyOS operating system, marking the launch of Huawei's self-developed operating system on personal computers.

Huawei's announcement of the MateBook Pro and MateBook Fold Ultimate Design laptops signals the company's push to bring its HarmonyOS operating system to personal computers, which have long been dominated by Microsoft's Windows and Apple's macOS.

At the launch in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong said computers running the HarmonyOS operating system integrate software, hardware, devices and cloud services to fundamentally change the personal computing experience.

HarmonyOS is an open source operating system designed for multiple devices.

Launched in 2019, this operating system is applied on smartphones, tablets, wearable devices, smart home appliances and new electric vehicles./.
