Hue: Sign limiting maximum speed to 30km/h causes traffic congestion

On August 6, Mr. Le Cong Dien, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Hue City, said that the unit had sent a report to the People's Committee of Hue City on traffic re-division, including the installation of signs indicating a maximum speed of 30km/h inside the Hue Citadel area.

The 30km/h speed limit sign in Hue causes many inconveniences.

According to Mr. Le Cong Dien, according to the decision of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city), the organization of traffic in the urban core was authorized to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue city (formerly). After Thua Thien Hue province became a city directly under the Central Government, the area of Hue city (formerly) was divided into two districts, Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan, then the placement of signs and traffic organization were assigned to the two districts, Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa.

"Although the placement of signs limiting the maximum speed to 30km/h in the area of the routes around the Hue Imperial City (currently in Phu Xuan ward) is not against regulations, it causes many inconveniences for people. The inconvenience here is like water flowing through a faucet; if you drive slowly, the route will be blocked due to the accumulation of vehicles. Previously, Phu Xuan district did not carefully study the location and route of the speed limit signs, which is why this situation occurred," said Mr. Le Cong Dien.

To resolve this inconvenience, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee chaired a meeting and assigned the Department of Construction to guide Phu Xuan Ward to remove a series of 30km/h maximum speed signs in the Hue Citadel area. Currently, the city is assigning the Department of Construction to carry out a project to review and reorganize traffic in the area, including reviewing whether the traffic sign system is suitable for reality or not to adjust it appropriately.

The 30km/h speed limit sign in Hue causes many inconveniences.

According to the plan proposed by the Department of Construction of Hue City, the maximum speed signs of 30km/h in the Hue Citadel area will be adjusted, only effective from 6 to 8 am and 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, along the route: from the intersection of Le Dai Hanh and Tran Van Ky → Ngo The Lan → Nguyen Trai → Trieu Quang Phuc → Phung Hung → Hoa Binh gate.

According to many residents in Phu Xuan ward, Hue city, many roads inside Hue Citadel such as Dinh Tien Hoang, Doan Thi Diem... have posted signs with a maximum speed of 30km/h for all types of vehicles without time limits.

This causes inconvenience to people's travel, especially many people are concerned that the speed limit is too low, making it easy to be fined. Notably, these routes have high traffic density due to the large number of tourists visiting Hue Imperial City every day, so the speed limit leads to traffic jams every time a vehicle has an accident.
