Aiming for all supermarkets and shopping malls to use environmentally friendly packaging

Pursuant to the National Action Program on Sustainable Production and Consumption in 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hau Giang province recently issued Document No. 41/KH-SCT on the implementation of the National Action Program on Sustainable Production and Consumption in the field of Industry and Trade in 2024.

Accordingly, in the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hau Giang province sets a goal that 100% of supermarkets and shopping malls in the province will distribute and use environmentally friendly packaging products to gradually replace disposable, hard-to-decompose plastic packaging products; build and promote sustainable supply chains, encourage the distribution of environmentally friendly products with eco-labels at supermarkets, shopping malls, and convenience stores.

Not only that, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade also strives for 70% of industrial parks, clusters, and craft villages to disseminate and raise awareness about sustainable production and consumption.

Along with that, implement and deploy legal policies on sustainable production and consumption. Specifically, implement regulations and technical standards on sustainable production, sustainable design, ecological design, design for recycling and reuse for manufacturing industries.

Along with that, reduce the consumption of raw materials of manufacturing industries, especially textiles, steel, plastics, chemicals, cement, beer, alcohol, soft drinks, paper and seafood processing.

The Department of Industry and Trade of Hau Giang province also aims to develop and apply 3 to 5 sustainable production and consumption models; disseminate and replicate cleaner production models and sustainable production and consumption models. All districts, towns and cities are required to organize propaganda and dissemination to raise awareness of sustainable lifestyle and consumption.

In addition, regarding the specific tasks in this plan, Hau Giang Department of Industry and Trade will organize many conferences. Among them, there will be a conference to promote the use of environmentally friendly packaging products to gradually replace disposable, hard-to-decompose plastic packaging products. Along with that, the Department will organize more conferences to disseminate policies and raise awareness of sustainable production and consumption for agencies, organizations, businesses, consumers, etc.
