Muong Nhe district needs to review and evaluate the effectiveness of domestic water works.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Giang Thi Hoa agreed on the working content with the People's Committee of Muong Nhe district.

In the period of 2021 - 2024, Muong Nhe district invested in building 8 domestic water supply works, repairing more than 20 works, with a total cost of over 41.3 billion VND from the central budget. The whole district currently has 100 centralized domestic water supply works; of which 90 works are operating effectively, thereby meeting the people's need for clean water.

However, post-investment management and operation are not guaranteed; repair and remediation work is not timely; some damaged and degraded works lack repair capital; the community's responsibility in protecting works is still limited.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Giang Thi Hoa suggested that Muong Nhe district should review and evaluate the operational efficiency of water supply works in the district. Of the 10 domestic water works that are no longer in operation, how many works were affected by natural disasters and at what time; at the same time, it is necessary to liquidate ineffective works to avoid wasting investment resources.

It is recommended that the operation and exploitation teams at the grassroots level increase operational efficiency, ensure that domestic water supply works are effectively managed and used for the right purposes; clearly identify actual needs and develop an order of priority for investment in domestic water supply works for each village and commune, using that as a basis for appropriate implementation, ensuring quality and efficiency./.
