On the morning of July 20, Vietnamese football fans were surprised to see the image of legend Diego Forlan walking around Hoan Kiem Lake. It is known that the former striker of Man Utd, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, officially arrived in Vietnam to attend a special event.

Despite a tight schedule and less than 24 hours, Forlan left memorable, emotional moments and strongly inspired thousands of fans in Vietnam.
During a live chat with Vietnamese audiences on the evening of July 20, Diego Forlan took the time to answer questions from fans and share about his illustrious career.
The former Uruguayan did not hesitate to talk about the ups and downs of his career, from the difficult early days at Man Utd to the pinnacle of glory with the European Golden Boot in 2005, 2009 and the Golden Ball at the 2010 World Cup.
“My journey with football has had its ups and downs, but I never give up. We must always try, persevere and practice hard to achieve milestones in our lives, no matter what field we are working in.
I have had the pleasure of playing for many different clubs from Europe to Asia. What I find most interesting is that I have tried to adapt to the culture of each team and enjoyed the wonderful times there,” the former Man Utd striker shared.
Diego Forlan is one of the symbols of perseverance in football. After leaving Europe in 2012, the former Uruguayan striker continued his journey to play in many different continents. He played for Internacional (Brazil) until 2014, before moving to Japan to play for Cerezo Osaka - the team that was once the destination of goalkeeper Dang Van Lam.
Not stopping there, Forlan also tried his hand in India and Hong Kong, before officially hanging up his boots at the age of 40, ending an impressive career that lasted more than two decades.

When asked about the secret to his success in football, Forlan frankly shared: “Perhaps people know me for my powerful and accurate long-range shots. I see many other players doing the same. For me, the secret lies in hard training, I practice shooting the ball every day at different distances and gradually it becomes really easy.”
During his illustrious career, Forlan scored a total of 274 goals at club level and 36 for the Uruguayan national team. Most of his goals came from classy long-range shots and became a trademark of one of the greatest strikers in the history of world football.
