Authorities this week found more remains in shallow graves scattered throughout the Shakahola forest, some with body parts missing. Hundreds of people are still reported missing in the area.

A Kenyan court on Wednesday denied bail to Paul Mackenzie, the leader of the Good News International Church, who is accused of ordering followers to starve their children and themselves to death in order to enter heaven before the end of the world.
Regional official Rhoda Onyancha said the search expanded to other parts of the forest on Friday. Excavations will continue on Saturday. Of the bodies recovered on Friday, 12 were children, according to a search participant.
Earlier this year, Mackenzie was arrested on suspicion of killing two children by starving and suffocating them, and was later released on bail.
He returned to Shakahola Forest after his release and predicted the end of the world would take place between August and April 15, and told his followers to starve themselves to death if they wanted to go to heaven. Security services have been criticised for potentially preventing a massacre if Mackenzie had not been released on bail.
