The book series Different is Great (First News and Dan Tri Publishing House) is a meaningful gift for children on International Children's Day, June 1st this year. Through this book series, children learn to appreciate their unique personalities and differences, and at the same time better express their happy and sad emotions in life.
From the moment they cry out, babies can feel their own emotions. However, what is the feeling that is both “scary” and wonderful that every child will experience? That is probably when the child realizes that he is different, that he is “like no one else”, and that he does not have much in common with other children of the same age.
How can we prevent these worries from turning into fear and self-doubt, but instead, into something different that makes them proud? The answer will be freely discovered by children in Different is Great , a lovely and meaningful children's book series by two female authors Hannah Peckham and Kat Merewether.
The book series "Different is Awesome" is the perfect combination of two authors Hannah Peckham and Kat Merewether. |
There is Hetty the baby elephant who cannot climb trees, Kiwi the baby bird with a unique rainbow nose, or Conker the chameleon whose skin cannot change color like other chameleon friends. The stories in the book series are all illustrated with extremely cute pictures with bright colors, along with short, simple readings suitable for children aged 6-11.
The book series includes 4 picture books: Conker the Chameleon , Conker the Chameleon and the Monkey Trap , Baby Elephant Learns to Climb a Tree , and Baby Kiwi with Unicorn Nose, helping children understand and appreciate their unique personalities through the journey of acceptance, discovery, and proving their self-worth of the adorable little characters in the book series.
In particular, at the end of each story in the book series, there will be games, coloring exercises and suggested questions to develop children's thinking and emotional skills, including: "What makes you different?", "What did you have the courage to do?", "When I'm sad, I confide in...".
Sharing about the process of writing the book series, author Hannah Peckham said that she herself was once a child growing up with many differences. At the age of 5, Hannah was diagnosed with severe dyslexia, becoming the first student in her school to have this disease. While her friends were happily playing during recess, Hannah sat in class trying to practice spelling with mixed feelings of love and hate for herself.
It was that special childhood experience that inspired her to create unique little friends like baby elephant Hetty or chameleon Conker. She also hopes that through the pages of childhood books, parents will pay more attention toeducating children about emotions. It is never too early for parents to encourage children to express their joys and sorrows.
Every child is unique and different in his or her own way. Respecting differences and understanding one's own emotions will be important skills to help children shape their personalities, as well as deeply influence their future. The book series Different is Great will be a meaningful gift that parents give their children on International Children's Day June 1.
