In the first 6 months of 2025, the total revenue of units at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street reached more than 31 billion VND, an increase of 8.63% compared to 2024. This is considered a good number in the context of many market challenges. However, the number of books sold only reached about 339,376 copies (down 1.8% compared to the same period in 2024). Notably, the number of newly released book titles was only 1,108 (down 42% compared to 2024).

Of particular concern is the decline in the children's book segment (in terms of quantity and revenue) that has lasted since 2023. Specifically, revenue from children's books only reached nearly 4 billion VND, down 12.75% compared to the same period in 2024. Without groundbreaking changes in product development, experience innovation and improved connection with young readers, the children's book segment will be at risk of continuing to decline, not only losing revenue but also gradually losing its fundamental role in fostering a reading culture for future generations, one of the core goals of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and developing a reading culture in the community.

According to Mr. Le Hoang, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, the revenue structure at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street in the first 6 months of 2025 shows a shift in consumer behavior, the focus is gradually leaning towards online channels. Meanwhile, the two traditional channels of direct retail and wholesale are facing certain difficulties. "This poses a problem for units at the book street because if the breakthrough of the online channel is not accompanied by a strategy to retain readers in the real space, then gradually the book street will find it difficult to maintain its inherent identity," Mr. Le Hoang emphasized.
In the first 6 months of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street had a total of 212 activities, demonstrating the tireless efforts in creating a vibrant cultural space of the units at the book street and partners. The activities are distributed in a variety of topics and forms such as: thematic activities and festivals; displays and exhibitions; exchanges and discussions; arts and performances; developing a reading culture for students, etc.

At the preliminary program, representatives of many units with booths at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street such as Kim Dong Publishing House, Tre Publishing House, Phuong Nam Bookstore, First News - Tri Viet... enthusiastically gave their opinions with the hope that the book street would achieve better results. Ms. Ha Nga, representative of Thai Ha Books, suggested: “In the past, book fairs at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street were all organized by the units themselves. However, due to the small scale, the revenue was not commensurate with the costs incurred. Therefore, in order to continue to promote the effectiveness of traditional channels, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street needs to take the lead to call on units to join hands in organizing book fairs. If the book street organizes, it will save a lot of costs in communication, design...".

Entering its 10th year, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street has upgraded and renovated a number of facilities, not only to serve the units but also to welcome domestic and foreign tourists .
Towards the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, in the coming time, the book street will organize many interesting activities for readers and booths such as: a beautiful photo contest of the book street with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City Book Street - A decade's mark through the lens"; a writing contest with the theme "The book street in my heart is..."; a beautiful booth decoration contest with the theme "10-year mark - Enhancing the appearance"; voting for 10 typical events and 10 characters who have an influence on the community.
