The first pilot “Night Book and Culture Festival” took place at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street every evening, from 6pm to 10pm, from November 21 to 23. The program brought cultural experiences combined with books to enhance the experience value for the public and promote the image of a dynamic, friendly and culturally rich city.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Hoang, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, said that for many years, the activities of the Book Street mainly took place during the day. After 6 p.m., the space became quiet and gradually closed, failing to fully promote the value of a dynamic, creative and unique cultural destination of Ho Chi Minh City.
This reality requires expanding evening activities to prolong cultural life, create more meeting and exchange spaces for people, especially young people, families, and connect the community and international tourists.
“In the context that Ho Chi Minh City is implementing the Project “Developing the cultural industry of Ho Chi Minh City to 2030”, the formation of the model “Book Festival and Night Culture” at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street is necessary and consistent with the general cultural development orientation of the city”, Mr. Le Hoang emphasized.

“Book and Night Culture Festival” is organized with many clusters of activities bearing the imprint of Vietnamese culture, including: a festival to meet, exchange and discuss books, book reviews by book lovers; a traditional art space “Cau ho dieu ly que huong” with don ca tai tu, cai luong, hat boi and other folk art forms; a space for gift - souvenir - creative products; folk games combined with modern elements; a space to introduce craft villages; a thematic stage, each day a story; a space for culture and folk culinary arts; other interactive activities and cultural experiences.

According to Mr. Le Hoang, based on the experimental activities of the 3-night weekend pilot, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street will learn from experience, find ways to call for and widely connect social resources to jointly develop the "Night Book and Culture Festival" model that is truly high-quality, more attractive, engaging and takes place regularly. From the 3-day weekend pilot of each month to organizing it on the last 3 days of each week and taking place regularly in the near future.
