From “Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary” – a book with half a million copies printed in 2005 until now, Nha Nam has published more than 20 million books, an average of 200 new titles each year, thereby contributing to spreading knowledge, inspiring learning and creativity in work and life of many classes of readers across the country.
Nha Nam has also become a partner of dozens of publishing units, distributors and many domestic and international cultural and educational agencies and organizations. Hundreds of Vietnamese authors and nearly 100 authors who have won the Nobel, Goncourt, Renaudot, Man Booker, Pulitzer, Akutagawa prizes... have also been introduced to Vietnamese readers by Nha Nam.
The limited edition book series celebrating Nha Nam's 20th anniversary includes 20 representative works, selected from tens of thousands of published titles.
Speaking at the book launch, General Director of Nha Nam Culture and Communication Joint Stock Company Nguyen Nhat Anh shared that each book in the past 20 years is a philosophical language, carefully crafted by bookmakers, with the desire to share and resonate with readers. Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh said that Nha Nam is fortunate to accompany and contribute to the transformation of the period of deep integration of the country, readers and writers are open, eager to bring beauty and newness to spread in life through the pages of books.
Each work in the commemorative publication series is carefully selected based on criteria such as the value of opening up knowledge, cultivating the lasting spirit of the book; wide reception of readers; representative of each genre; having a prominent role in each stage of Nha Nam's development. The book series is a miniature picture of 20 years of Nha Nam participating in the publishing life, from the first goal of promoting, bringing Vietnamese literature and international literature closer to the public, to expanding different book genres such as history, culture, philosophy, psychology, economics, administration, business, science and technology, geopolitics , art studies...
All 20 titles are designed with a uniform hardcover, embossed with gold foil. Each title is released in 1,000 limited editions, numbered, stamped with Nha Nam's 20th anniversary seal and numbered from 1 to 999, making each book a unique collectible.
Regarding the special edition released on this occasion, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, expressed that the 20-book set is like a DNA chain that establishes Nha Nam's ideology, viewpoint, aesthetics and aspirations for books. The set of books as well as the books published by Nha Nam equip readers with many basic foundational issues about education, aesthetics, philosophy, religion, literature and many other issues. "Nha Nam, with its way of doing things, has contributed to promoting the development of book publishing and reading in Vietnam," poet Nguyen Quang Thieu expressed.
Speaking at the book launch, Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Nguyen Nguyen assessed that Nha Nam has been persistent and subtle in bringing knowledge to readers. Through each book, readers are gradually introduced to new values, from which many people have returned to the habit of reading. Nha Nam is a typical private cultural enterprise model, when harmoniously connecting business stories with aesthetic stories and cultural stories. That connection creates a unique beauty, worthy of respect.
In the coming time, according to Mr. Nguyen Nguyen, Nha Nam needs to continue promoting digital transformation, expanding its approach to readers on digital platforms, but still maintaining the creative spirit and content quality that have created its brand.
